adding DAH to a Universal trip?

We're working on a plan for an early May trip. Our first choice was Disney but costs are almost double Universal. So we're going with a Universal hotel/tickets. This has caused some family unrest, including grumbling from people who say it isn't a vacation if we don't visit the Haunted Mansion.

So, Any experiences going from Universal to MK just for DAH?


What are the chances of early May DAH MK? Historically, they were offered in 2016, but not in 17 or 18. Thoughts for this year?

How did the costs wind up double?

I think it's unlikely at this point. I believe it's telling the Disney has published an end date for these events unlike Early Morning Magic which has never had a stated end date. I suspect DAH is being discontinued for the summer.

Also, I can't find the info right now but I believe there were some private after hours events at Magic Kingdom in May for the cheer or dance competitions which would eliminate the possibility of public after hours events those nights.

Disney hotels (even with a discount) were running $500 a night, but we probably could've found a cheaper hotel... The real deal maker was the 5 days for the cost of 2 days tickets for Universal that we found from Undercover Tourist.
