I have read and have had personnal experience with adding another person to a dining reservation. Two years ago we were a party of 4 and had to add 1 to make it 5. No problem, we called and the other person was added. This was about a month before going and during free dining. Last fall there was a poster that had a similar situation and no luck. He/she was able to add to make a table for 6 not 5! Two weeks ago we decided to go with the $500 giftcard pin we received a while ago. Originally it was just my husband and myself and we made reservations for 2 (which I got fairly easily, not all the places/times but quite good reservations for 3 1/2 weeks before) This past week one of my kids decided to come along ( thiey always love to come with us but on such short notice not sure of vacation requests etc.) I called to add 1 to the reservation and the CM said we had to make all new reservations to do this. She was able to add the 1 to 2 of the reservations or actually make 2 new ones at slightly different times. I called again the next day and the same type of response. I called and just tried to make new reservations and got the same quotes on times on Fri. Yesterday I called and just tried to add 1 to the last 2 reservations made directly with WDW and no problem, the CM just ADDED one more!! I don't understand how they seem to do this differently. I had to get new reservation numbers for the first 2 reservations and these last 3 yesterday all stayed the same (like 2007). We also had a reservation at Raglan Road that I made directly with the restaurant (while I was asking if they took the Gift Card and Tables in Wonderland). That, of course was no problem. Just my experience this past 2 weeks with WDW reservations.

Last year my DN decided last minute to come join my family to WDW. This would change my ressies from 4 to 5. I called to add him to ressies and they said that not one of them had availablility.

I have a few friends on the DIS that go to WDW ALL the time and I asked their opinion. In their experience it was never a problem to do it at the podium. So honestly I had no choice but to try this....and low and behold, they were right. Not one restaurant, not even Le Cellier had a problem when we showed up at the podium.

We were all ready to not sit, but we told the greeter at the podiums that we needed to change from 4 to 5. They only thing they said is that it might be a little longer of wait, and honestly it really wasn't!!

Good Luck, hope this helps!!
