is it possible to call and add another guest to our dining reservations or will they have to cancel and rebook for 5. ( which I am hoping not, because online I cannot get any ressie we already have for selected nights and times for a party of 5.)

Nope, online CM bookers too have to cancel and rebook, just like you. Same inventory, same reservations available. Sorry!

Some people try to add the person at the time of the reservation/at the restaurant, with some success. Often, they will allow it, but it might take a good deal of time before you are seated.

Good luck, reservations are cancelled ALL the time. I suggest calling regardless, because you never know.

Yep, I think they will have to re-book. We booked and pre-paid for CRT, then got free dining. I called to see if I could get the dining plan put on that ressie and get a refund. I was told that I would need to wait and do it there, because if she did it, it would cxl the ressie. :/

If they don't have any tables for 5 available, they can't change your reservation to 5 people. Keep checking and hopefully something will open up. People cancel ADRs all of the time. Good luck!

I just finally finished adding a person to all of our ADRs. Made ours 5 too from 4. It was a pain. Since it is a Fire Marshall Rule they cannot add anymore to a resi than what the building holds. So, I literally changed all of our reservations. The CM told me to not assume that the restaurant would allow you to bring an extra person. What helped me, was that I just moved our park days around. Lots of stalking the site all day and instead of eating at 6 we are eating at 5:30 or 6:45 on some occasions. It takes time but don't fret. Many cancellations happen, especially the closer you get. People always are dropping ADRs and changing their minds. Good Luck!

I did the exact same thing too. My sister decided to join us on the trip and while I am thrilled I also knew I had prime resi that were made 180 out. We got all but one changed. Hoping we can make chef Mickey work on arrival day. If not will give it up. Grateful to be able to be flexible with park days and Mel times.

I hope you realize that if you don't cancel CMs 24 hours in advance you would be charged the $10 per person no show fee. You can't show up with an extra guest and then decide against eating without paying the fee.

The above is correct, if you all walk away from the reservation at the podium because they can't accommodate the 5th person, it will go down as a no-show.

What about going from an odd number to an even number? My main concern for this is BOG, T-Rex, Rainforest, Sci Fi and Biergarten.

I was wondering this myself. We had initially made ressies for 4 at some very hard to get restaurants (including O'hana!). We just found out this weekend that we will have an extra traveler with us and need to change our ressies to 5. I've looked online and most places are booked up. I don't want to lose any of my ressies, especially not O'hana since that would be for dh's birthday dinner. What do I do? Show up at the restaurant and hope for the best? Or leave a person behind?

What about going from an odd number to an even number? We have everything booked for 7, and just found out my niece is coming with us. Are most tables seated with an even number of chairs so this won't be a problem? Or do some restaurants tack on a chair at the edge of a table as some restaurants do with 5 guests (four people facing each other and an additional chair added to the "head" of the table)? My main concern for this is BOG, T-Rex, Rainforest, Sci Fi and Biergarten.

Going from an odd number to an even is easier since most tables are 2-4-6 etc tops. Adding an extra chair at the edge of the table isn't done at DW restaurants very often because the tables are so close together in many cases that it would block aisles needed for a quick exit if necessary.

You can call T-Rex and Rainforest directly and make new reservations.

As the earlier posters on this thread said, they had to try and make new reservations with the correct number of diners when adding an extra person. You will need to do the same since you will also need a larger sized table since you're going from 4 to 5 people.

Some of the reservations like 'Ohana will be hard to get, but you need to be persistent. Keep checking online multiple times a day. If you're flexible about the date and time it will help because it will broaden your options.

Showing up with an extra person should be a last resort because there's no guarantee that the extra person will be accommodated. The CMs will do their best, but there's always the possibility that the person will be turned away. We saw that happen at a restaurant once. If the extra person can't be seated you'll have to decide which one of you will eat elsewhere. If you all choose to walk away, the restaurants with a credit card guarantee (like 'Ohana) will consider you a no show and you will be charged $10 per person.

I have a rez for 5 at Ohana. The 5th is a friend that will be there at the same time. Said friend might be canceling entire trip (well postponing it due to family situation). Will I be charged for the "no-show" of one? Will I be able to call 24 hours in advance to go down to 4?

As long as part of the group shows up for the ADR, the no show fee will be waived.

I have to say that if the extra is a child normally the restaurant is very good at trying to place that child,
We went over and at the same time had friends staying for a wk while we was there, the friend ended up being very sick and having the doctor out twice and so we liked after the child,
Of course we had a lot of Adrs booked so we decided we would take him and hope for the best at every place they accommodated us, they explained we might have to wait a little longer for a table but at the most it was only 10 mins and that was at chef mickeys for dinner.
So not all hope is lost if your willing to chance it.
