Adding an extra night onto a ressie and DDP

I rented points from a DVC member and already have a 7 night reservation confirmed for this January. I was thinking about adding an extra night onto the ressie by renting some leftover points from a different member. Is this possible? Will we be guaranteed to be in the same room for both reservations? I also have the DDP booked for the 7 night reservation. If we link the reservations will I be required to add the DDP for the extra night if we rent through a different member? Thanks for any input!

No, not necessarily. It would depend on the resort you are staying at, whether there is availability, the size villa you have and whether there is a specific booking category for that villa.

Your new reservation would have to be identical to the first one for all the reasons I listed above (just not for the same number of nights). Both members would have to link them. You could have DDP for the first part of the stay and not for the last night.

Is this in a nice way telling me that its a huge pain for the members?
The person that I rented from was great but they are out of points and we are thinking that an extra day would give us some more down time.
However, we could just stay off site for the first or last night if linking ressies is not the easiest thing to do! Thanks again!

One problem you might have would be since you are modifying the reservation by linking them, you might have to pay for the dining plan at that point. Unless you have already paid for it. Some members have tried to make changes to their reservations that they had the dining plan added to before Oct when the changes came out and they were required to pay for the dining plan at that time.

January could be difficult at this time.
