Adding an extra day of tickets Problem

I did this last year at DLR and had no problem adding a day. I went up to the ticket window and just asked them to add one more day for each of our 3 tickets and just paid for the extra day! I believe it was somewhere around $40.00 for each ticket for hoppers.

Yes. That's the case at WDW, too.
Adding a day to a 4 (or more)-day ticket costs just $10 per day, plus tax.
And, there's no problem about that.

But, what is being discussed is (and the controversy is about) adding a day to a ticket BEFORE ARRIVAL (and doing so on a "Resort Package" ticket.)
And then, having to pay an extra "fee" for them making that change for a resort guest before arrival.
