Adding an Additional Day

I was able to snag a reservation for a preferred site for 7/2-7/4, but I am hoping to add the night of 7/4 and checkout on 7/5. Knowing this is busy time at the Fort, what is the best way y'all have found to be able to get that additional day you are looking for? Would you use the "Change Reservation" option or just keep trying to search for the one night as if you are adding a new reservation? Thanks in advance!

My advice is to use the phone and call and talk to a CM.

Checking online for the days you want is okay, but often times the CMs can do things more efficiently (and sometimes not.) You may want to call "DAILY" to try and get it. Even trying morning and early evening.
As other folks "Change their minds" your day may come available. Be prepared though that it could mean having 2 reservations on different type of sites. (full versus preferred) This could mean that on that last day, you'd have to pack up and move to a different site for 1 night.
IF you manage to get it all as preferred (or full or premium) regardless if it's one reservation or 2, you shouldn't have to move.

If by any chance you don't get one, I had luck at New Year's adding on Jan.1 while I was there by visiting the front desk. I had been trying for months with no luck.

1) Phone-Call reservations and try to get the extra day.
2) My guess it that it will be VERY hard, since it is a holiday.
3) But, keep calling, as there are cancellations.
. . . if unable, keep asking DAILY at the Front Desk to see if there is an opening
. . . the Concierge could also help, but keeping on top of it during your stay
. . . we don't always have "pull" or "Juice", but some CM's do owe us favors for when we have helped them
4) Wish I could help, but we are travelling/flying at that time (1st Great-Granddaughter's 1st Birthday party).
