Adding a second outdoor game will only diminish Winter Classic's allure

I actually disagree...I don't believe this will be overkill at all. For those of us on the WESTERN side of Canada we can't always afford the high cost of air fare to travel east, therefore it would be nice for us to have the same type of opportunities that are presented there.

An outdoor game here in Calgary would be fantastic for our city! While I believe the Boston game in Fenway would honestly make history more so than the Flames in Mcmahon stadium for sure it gives more people the opportunity to see something like this closer to where they live.

While of course I am a little biased being a die hard flames fan (since birth) I would instead love to go to Boston and see the bruins play the capitals as my first option! Though the $1800 in air fare is way more than I would pay for this game.

I hope this actually comes to reality and does happen in calgary to give us westerner's more options on being able to participate...after all last year's outdoor game was in the east too!

Well last years outdoor game was Detroit and Chicago which are two Western Conference teams. The year before it was two Eastern Conference teams with Pittsburgh and Buffalo. Anyway I since it looks like it will be the Leafs and Flames that's the best thing possible, because we have an Eastern Conference team from Canada and a Western Conference team from Canada.

Let us have a winter classic again.

Bettman only wants US team in the winter classic, another sign of his love for Canada.

As for having it out west I think it is a great idea.

Calgary is a great idea but how about a game in Saskatoon or Winnipeg.
Do those cities have venues big enough? I know Winnipeg has the stadium where the Blue Bombers play, not sure about 'stoon.

Besides Bettman it's also NBC that does not want a Canadian team in their Winter Classic because of raitings, since they feel it won't be good with a Canadian team broadcast in the United States. However that also bugs me because NBC does not pay the NHL to broadcast their games so they make no revenue, where as they make a ton of money from CBC and the six Canadian teams combined make up for most of the NHL revenue. So basically NBC can tell the NHL and Bettman what they want to do.

As for having the game take place in Saskatoon or Winnipeg while your right those CFL stadiums could accomodate this game, I would think they want it taking place in a Canadian city with an NHL team.

Agreed.

Regina has the CFL stadium (Taylor Field) and it would be packed even in January with 27000+ fans.
