I was toying with the idea of flying in the evening before our trip was to start so we would have an extra full day. When I priced it out the total, for the trip, went DOWN by $50. Is that possible? Keep double checking for a mistake!!!

Was this total travel - flight and package? We have found, on occasion, that it is cheaper to fly on certain dates and add a night's hotel than stick with the original itinerary.

We had this happen last year- we saved a bunch in airline tickets and a little on hotel-that off set the additional ticket cost-the thing is there will be other additional costs-such as extra meals and what not. Though we loved being able to spend extra time and we keep looking to lower the cost of our next trip-just 10 days away!

You can check the rate of the room by day. If there is a promotion going on sometime some days are included and some aren't The total you see overall is an average of all those nights combined so this can effect the end result if the night you're adding is at a lower rate.

This was just room and tickets! We fly southwest so we book flight separately. We were going from Fr-Th and changed from Th-Th. I have re checked it several times. So crazy!

Are you looking at the same room category? More days-less money? That would be great!

same everything just added a day. I still don't understand but I will just say, THANKS Mickey!!

Was there a discount available that only applies if your arrival date was the earlier day? We've had that happen and changed our trip to come in the night before to get to get the discount. A full first day for a cheaper price! We loved it when it happened to us! Congratulations!

Sometimes discounts only come up with a minimum night stay that they have built in (not advertised). So you may not see it for 4 nights but you will for 5 nights, for example.

Did you click through until the check out screen to make sure you are seeing all the taxes added in? Could be a minimum-night stay discount like a PP said but I would check again to make sure all the taxes are added to that total.
