Hi All, I will be traveling to DLR the end of March and right now our package includes a 4 day park hopper ticket. If on our third day at the parks we decide we want to add another day to our pass is it possible to upgrade our 4 day ticket to a 5 day ticket? If so, how do we do that?

Yes. Go to the ticket booth and pay the difference in price between your 4-Day ticket and the current gate price of the 5-Day ticket.

Thanks Ryan, can we do it on day 4 of our ticket or does it have to be done before we enter the park on the last day of our ticket?

As long as the fine print doesn't say that you can't upgrade the ticket, the ticket can be upgraded at any point while it's still a valid ticket. So, you can upgrade it on the fourth day of use as well (just make sure you upgrade it before the operating day ends on the last day of use).

Please be aware, if you bought discounted tickets they may not "bridge" the price. When we tried to add a 5th day last year (Jan 2016), they would only value them at what was paid for them. So essentially I was expected to pay the amount to bring it up to current cost + the cost to move to a 5 day. It was quite a bit more than just the cost to add a day (that the signs at all the ticket windows showed). We even went to City Hall after not having any success at the ticket booths and got the same answer.

We were very frustrated and didn't end up adding a day because the cost difference was much higher than expected. Based on ticket costs, we should have only had to pay an additional $15 per person, but they said it would be something like $45 more each, so instead of a total of $45 to add a day for all 3 of us, it would have been $135. One of them actually told me, you should make sure you purchase the number of days you think you will use if you are buying discounted tickets. We had purchased ours through Get Away Today.

I understand others have had different experiences, but I just wanted you to know what could happen.

Wow, thanks for the info. Luckily I purchased these tickets directly from Disneyland.

If the line at the ticket booths are really long, you can also upgrade your tickets at the Walt Disney Travel Company Guest Services office in DTD. It's located next to the Alamo Rent-a-Car office around the corner from Earl of Sandwich. I upgraded 3-day tickets on a trip 4 years ago. There was no wait and they helped me handle the whole transaction in less than 5 minutes.

Note that, if you're upgrading several tickets on the last (currently valid) day, they may require that you have all of the people whose tickets they are present. When we upgraded 5-day hoppers to APs at 6:00 pm on Day 5 last year, the ticket person required that I present both my husband and my daughter, just to prove that they had not formally left the parks, thereby rendering their tickets expired. Even though they could have come back later, if we hadn't been driving home.
