Here is my problem we have a stay at the BCV coming up in Aug. I booked the 20th to the 27th. That's all good, but.....we find nice prices on flights to Disney on the 19th. We have waitlisted for the BCV but are going to book a room at thee Poly for a night instead. Now my question: How can I get my luggage to just go to the BCV and wait a day for us. I will have the yellow tags from both resorts. Is it as simple as putting the BCV tags on and letting it go to there and they will hold it overnight? All we want to do is pack an overnite bag that we may use as carryon with us. There would be no problem using ME for the Poly right? We will have our OL shipped to the BCV on the 20th that is no problem. Any insight? Thanks.

You can't. Your luggage goes where YOU go. You can ask Bell Services to hold it overnight, then in the morning arrange for it to be sent to BCV - but you can't have it sent directly there. Unless you use an outside delivery service to ship it directly to BCV, of course.

How would they follow me to the Poly if they have the BCV tags on them?
I'm not trying to cheat the system, just trying to see if it can help me out.

If you put the BCV tags on them do they check to see that the bags are for that day or do they just grab all the bags send them to the designated resort and then have the resort sort it out.

If thats the case if you had the bags delivered to the BCV you could contact them and they could hold them overnight.

I just thought of a problem. You check in with ME with a Poly res and tell them you have 2 bags. They pull all the bags and find two extra for BCV and 2 they are short two for the Poly. I'm not sure they will put two and two together and start a lost luggage procedure for your Poly bags.

You could just put the Poly tags on them as the PP suggests. Have Poly's Bell Services hold them and then have them transfered to the BCV the next day. Transferring luggage between resorts for split stays is an every day thing for them. You still never see your luggage until you get to BCV and it doesn't confuse the system.

Don't people use the luggage service and no ME by way of renting a car??????
Other than the date change on the yellow tag I would tell the ME people I have no bags with me to the Poly.
Thanks for all the help and info.

Anyone do this?

Yes, people do use DME for luggage transfers without using the DME bus service even though Disney would prefer they do not.

Two possible glitches with your proposal.

First, DME may scan your bags at the airport and figure out that the tags are for the following day. What would they do in this situation? Send the bags along to BCV? Hold them at the airport until the next day? Try to track you down to figure out what's going on? I just don't know and any of those scenarios could wind up being a hassle for you.

Second, if they do just send the bags along to BCV as tagged they will arrive and BCV will see that you aren't registered and don't have a reservation for that day. What would they do in this situation? Look at the next day's reservations to see that you would be arriving and hold the bags until then? Figure they have been misdirected and get them into whatever process they have for rerouting misdirected bags? Again, I just don't know and there certainly is a risk that your bags wind up in some kind of DME luggage limbo from which it will be a hassle to retreive them.

Anyone do this?

Yes they do but they rent the car and go to SAME resort as the bags.

The people at the front desk don't ask you how you got there, they just need to know that your bags are with ME and they need to meet up with you.

If your concern is how to get your luggage from POLY to BCV, Disney will transfer the luggage for you. To be on the safe side, I would take your bags with you to the POLY and have Disney move them to BCV for you the next day. I know it's one extra thing to do, but that's better than being without luggage for 7 days.

You could also consider renting a car at the airport and dropping it off the next day at the Alamo or National at the Dolphin hotel (a short walk from BCV). We normally do this, it usually costs around $40, we can leave whatever luggage in the car overnight, and it also gives us the opportunity to stop for some groceries.
