Is adding a day guest as easy as just giving the front desk the person's name? If I check in on Tuesday, can I go ahead and give the information for Wednesday?

My understanding is that will allow the person to obtain a key to the room? Or is it more simple to leave a room key at the front for them?

Thanks

Well, I have usually waited until they arrived and stopped at the front desk the next time we were close to it. I haven’t tried adding them before they get there. They were given a key card with limited access (specifically they have been told no pool access). Usually I am adding my BIL on trips where my sister is already there with me and he just comes over for a day of going to the parks.

I've done it before the person got there....well I was trying to add people to the room but the front desk didn't feel like doing that and made them day guests instead, when I stopped back by the front desk, they re-did the reservation to do what I actually wanted to do. All I did was give their names (?). But the person at the Poly did say they would have pool privileges as day guests.

OP here - a variation on my original question - can I call and add a guest to my reservation (not just a day guest) without having an MDE account to attach them to? I assume I can just call and say I need to add XYZ and their name is ABC?

Yes, a hotel guest doesn’t need to have a MDE account. You just need their name & address. But don’t forget there will be an extra adult charge for more than 2 adults in the room.

Do you have an extra magicband you can give them and where are you staying? For most resorts; you could just give them an extra magicband and they could enter without you needing to "add" them. Disney just tends to make things complicated and often mess up stuff when they're involved so I would always err on the side of leaving them out of it unless you absolutely have to.

Just some clarification I think is needed here.

If the reservation is room only or a package where the package components (currently just ticket length) are acceptable to all party members you can add them to the reservation and they will have all the resort privileges and be a regular guest.

If the reservation is a package and you do not want them to have all the components of the package booked, you can only add them as a day guest. They will be able to get into the room but not much else. That room key will not be able to be connected to their MDE profile so if they have tickets, they will need to have another way to access their tickets.

You can add as a day guest for room only as well and as you stated they don't have access other than basically to the room. They can't get into the pool, charge to the room, etc. We did this in May after my original question. Just adding it since it wasn't mentioned.
