Adding a day at the beginning of a package?

I hope someone can help here!

We are doing a 3-Land/4-Sea vacation package in May/June. This package is Thursday-Saturday at WDW and Sunday-Wednesday on the ship. I have PAID for park admission for ALL DAY Thursday and yet the earliest flight I can get to Orlando doesn't get me to the airport until 1:30 (if it's on time) and I figure we won't get to the hotel until 4pm. That is almost the ENTIRE DAY gone and I've paid for park admission!!

Do you see where I'm going here??

In checking flights, I see that I get get a late afternoon flight to Orlando on Wednesday for about $180 less than leaving on Thursday morning. That would just about cover an add'l night at Animal Kingdom Lodge (wouldn't it??) AND we'd be there for the opening bell on Thursday.

Should I do that?? Is late (probably 11pm) check in okay?

Also, since we will be purchasing the "transfer package" for all ground transportation, can we add an addtional day?

I'm no expert, but I'll take a crack at this, and maybe it will encourage other replies. It sounds like it's definitely to your advantage to arrive a day early. The late check-in won't be a problem - you just may not get your room preferences, if you have any, since most of the rooms will have been assigned by then. I'm not sure about using the transfers that you buy as part of that package if you're arriving early. I think those are designed to transport people en masse who are arriving as planned for their resort on that Thursday. You may have to get yourself to AKL on your own if you come in a day early. I hope someone else with more expertise can speak to this.
