My wife and 2 adult daughters will be visiting WDW in June. I plan to fly in half way through the trip to join them. What is the best way to add me to the resort reservation so I can use my magic band to get into the room and enjoy the benefits of staying on site?

Should I try to add my self before or just have my wife add me upon arrival?

Thanks! I am a long time member who has been on hiatus from the DIS forums for quite a while.

Do you have a package or room only reservation?

The Disney rules state that everyone in the room needs to have the same options in a package for tickets for example.

Also do you plan to make any Park reservations for park admission as that can impact the best time to add you to the reservation.

She does not need to add you until you arrive as you will be paying a extra adult fee unless you are staying in a DVC unit. She can wait until the morning of your arrival day and stop by the Front Desk to add you to the room and your MB(s) should be good to go as long as they are still active in MDE.

Worst case you can stop at the front desk when you arrive and get a plastic room key and have the CM also verify your MB is active in the local resort database.

Done this often. When she checks in she can tell them she will be adding you to the room XXX day. Usually they tell me to stop by and add you the day of arrival, that way you aren't charged the extra adult fee for every night. When you arrive I would double check at front desk to make sure your MB is synced up.

If a package def don't add you before the trip.

Thanks for the replies. This is a room only reservation, so I will have her add me the day I am arriving.

Here is my next question then. Do I even have to be added to the room reservation? Disney has basically eliminated all benefits to staying on property. The only thing you get is early entry a half hour before the public. Is that worth the $20 per day. We're staying at All Star Music, so we won't be offered the extra magic hours. I am very disappointed the Disney has decided that perk is only for Deluxe resort guests. I'm not paying $400-500 per night just to have the extra magic hours. Very greedy on Disney's part, IMO.

Do you want to use your own MB or a RF room key to access the room or charge to the hotel room folio?

While I can understand that you don't feel you are receiving any tangable value by paying an extra adult fee per night while you are at the resort. You would be in violation of the Fire Code by not being a registered guest in a room and Disney may toss you and the rest of your party out without notice since you put Disney on the wrong side of the Florida Innkeepers law.
