My wife and I are cruising the Wonder with our 5 year old DD on May 8; we also have an 18 month old, but we'd planned on leaving her with the grandmothers for this cruise, because we're considering this trip as a surprise birthday present for our older daughter. She's been feeling a bit jealous and neglected over the past months with all of the extra attention her little sister has been getting (ear tube surgery, etc.), so we thought this might be a nice surprise "just for her".
As I should have predicted, however, my wife is having second thoughts about leaving "her baby" for 4 days, and she asked me to find out if we could add her to our party.
That's a long intro to my question: we have reserved a Cat 6 stateroom that technically only sleeps 3 (it has the single sofa-bed but no pull-down). I called All-Seas, and their agent told me they cannot allow us to add a fourth person in that stateroom, even if she's only 18 months (She could easily sleep between my wife and me in the queen bed.) And all the quad rooms are sold out.
I have no problem with that policy; makes sense to me. But I wonder whether any of you are aware of any exceptions that may have been made in cases involving smaller children. Seems like the intent of the policy is to avoid overcrowded staterooms -- they don't want people sleeping on the floor, etc. But we're literally just adding 24 pounds of cute little girl, and there's plenty of bed space for the rest of us.
If anyone has any experience with this issue, I'd appreciate any information you could provide.
