Adding 25-50 direct points

Why not just purchase direct right out of the gate if blue card status is your eventual goal? Some resorts such as SSR and OKW have a minimum purchase of 50 points for new members. A few others are at 75 or 100 points.

Not any more. All direct sales are 150.

You can use a Chase Disney card for direct purchases at 6 months no interest. That's the same as cash to Disney. Or at least you used to be able to. Anyone know if that's still the case? If so, that's what we'd do to add on another 25-35 points. Not in the plan right now.
It was the case as of March when we did a small add-on. you can also spread that initial payment over 60-90 days, so it makes that 0% interest 6-9 months. Disney “floats” you for those 90 days, yet you still get your points immediately. So we usually do minimum payment immediately, $500-$1000 30 days, $500-$1000 60 days, and final balance 90 days.

Therefore, you can have as few as 25 resale points and be able to purchase the minimum number of direct points, although I'm at a loss as to what the logic would be behind such a move.
Our primary reason for doing so is because we want to pay “cash” (with 6 months 0% finance on the Disney card) and are adding on to get that extra night or allow for upgrading to 1BR. Smaller contracts have higher resale value and also means that if I do need or want to sell, I can sell off small amounts rather than large number of points.

I had almost embarked on replacing my resale SSR with Direct SSR points - so I can use them at future resorts - given how high resale has been going, but then they raised the direct price, so I abandoned that idea.

Let’s say you have a resale contract… if you bought 100 direct add on points this year… and then 50 direct add on points next year… would you then get a blue card since you would have the minimum 150 direct points?

Yes - provided the minimum for a blue card is still 150 points. We don't know when or if Disney will raise the minimum. At one time (not all THAT long ago, LOL), it was only 25 points! (And in the very beginning, the direct price per point was $48). :teeth:

Stacking up small contracts little by little is fun & addicting but, you end up paying so much more per point for the convince
