Adding 2 nights before free dining

I originally had reservations Aug 13-22 at the WL with 40% off. My DD decided to join us for the trip, so I am changing the reservation to POR from Aug 15-22 with free dining for 5 of us! We still want to arrive on the 13th. Can I call to book 2 days before free dining starts and add days to our 8 day park hopper tickets that I am purchasing as part of a package for the free dining?

Yes, you will have 2 seperate reservations. Remember, there is a slight chanch you might have two change rooms. As far as the tickets, you can extend on to them to meet your time. We are going to the AKL pool view with 40% off 8/12 thru 8/15. Switching to POP 8/15 thru 8/24 with FD. I know my wife said about getting our tickets at DD. Have fun..

The first 2 days are booked as room only since a 2 day ticket is so much higher relatively than an 8 day ticket. So its not like I am adding extra days to the end. How can this be done?

I see what you're saying, you have to buy 2 day base for FD which you won't receive until you check in for the second ressie. So what would you use for tickets for the first ressie? Right?

Our first three nights are room only, no tickets added on. People here have said you may get your tickets that you have paid on your second stay ahead of time at Downtown Disney at Guest Services. You give them your second confirmation number, and then you may pick up your tickets. You will have two Key to the World cards, one to get into your room and for charges and the other to get into the parks. This way you will not have to pay for just two days on your first stay. On our ressie it is stated that we would like to stay in the same room. Of course, it is just a request and no guarantee. And yes, you may add on days to your 8 day park hopper for a lot less money, around $3 a day per person!! So you may get a 10 day park hopper pass with your free dining package even though you are not staying 10 nights on that package. Hope this helps!!

Also remember you will have to recheck in the day free dinning starts. Get there early because that line is long. We did in a few years ago but it was 1 night before so we didnt get tickets for that day. Just enjoyed the resort and got out tickets the next morning when FD started. Good Luck!!!

Wow, I have never heard of doing this. We go down early every year before free dining and we don't go to parks because we don't want to buy the extra park tickets for the first ressie. I didn't know this was possible.

I found out on here! These wonderful people with so much knowledge!! It has been done. Of course, when I called and asked, one CM said "no you cannot do that", and another time I called, another CM said "yes, you can pick your tickets up earlier as long as they are paid for"!! I have not done this yet, but others on here have been successful. DIS rocks!!

When we were at POP for all the nights, the CM put on our ressie that we would like to stay in the same room if possible. And yes, you do have to go and check-out and then check back in on the 15th. As it has been said on here, the lines are long so go early in the morning!! Good luck!

LOL...we are going Aug 13-15 & staying at AKL with the 40% discount. Then we are switching over to Music Aug 15-25 for free dining. We have an AP this year, which I don't think we are renewing so this information will be very useful for future trips. Thanks!!!!!

This is news to me too. We were UNABLE to do this last year. So I am curious to see it happen. Is there anyone that has actually done this, get your tickets Before your pkg even starts?
We were not able to do it in past..maybe something changed
And I agree, check out and back in early, we got to keep same room!

Last year we had the 4/3 deal. Then we decided to go down 4 days earlier with a room only. We chaged the park tikets to 10 day tickets and we picked them up at the back entance to Epcot. I think there is a place you can pick them up downtown as well. Keep in mind, we did not have free dining, so it might be different.

We did this exact thing last year. Our FD package at Pop was to start on 8/16. We arrived on 8/14 with a room-only res. I called several people ahead of time to make sure we could pick up our tickets ahead of time so we could upgrade to APs. Unfortunately, not all the CM's I spoke with knew about this. But after many phone calls, I was told that I would have to go to guest services at any park (not just DD) and they would be able to call the resort where the FD package would be to verify the tickets we were getting and they would give us the tickets right there. That is what we did and that is exactly what happened. We were able to pick them up and upgrade right there to our APs. So, don't worry - have a great trip!

I was the original poster of this thread, and I just wanted to confirm that you can do this. We checked in on August 13, and our free dining package started on August 15. On the 14th we went to guest relations in Magic Kingdom, and the CM had to remove the tickets from our reservation and give us paper tickets. We had 8 day hoppers so they just started a day early.
