Adding 1 to an existing reservation

I woke up at 5am on my 180 ADR day to get a reservation for 8 for dinner at BOG for my daughter's birthday. Well a few months later, my neice decided to join us for the trip so now we're a group of 9. I've been trying online, even signed up at Touring Plans to use their reservation finder for either a reservation of 1 (which hubby will grab) or 9. I've called and I am told to 'keep trying'. I'm just wondering what are the odds of getting it closer to the actual date (april 27th). This is stressing me out. I got a back up reservation at the plaza but it's at 3pm! We even have a cake scheduled for the BOG reservation.
I also thought maybe I could ask the concierge at the resort when we get there (will that make any difference?) or just keep trying? I guess I want reassurance or stories of success...

Meanwhile, if I have to cancel BOG I will definitely let this board know first.

Thanks in advance!

No gaurentees, but I had a similar thing happen at BOG for dinner. We had a last minute person decide they wanted to join us. I asked at the check in podium, and they let us add them even though there was no availability. We had to wait longer to be seated, and I’m sure it’s up to the discretion of the person working, but just don’t give up. We planned on them saying no, but it never hurts to ask.

Hopefully, you’ll have luck updating the reservation closer to the time. People tend to reserve more than they plan on using and then cancel when they make their FP at 60 or 30 days or cancel right before the fee once their schedule is firmly set. You have plenty of time for something to come available.

BOG’s capacity at dinner is limited by the kitchen, not the chairs. While nothing is every guaranteed, I think your chances of adding an additional person at the podium when you check in is better than at almost any other restaurant.

Keep trying and you just might get one closer to your vacation time. Remember a lot of people make multiple ADR's while they decide what park they are going to do on what day and then cancel the others before they get penalized for being no shows.

When I talked to Disney reps on the phone, most said that +/- 1 on your reservations shouldn't make a big difference for the restaurant! (Even when I mentioned my CRT reservation), we didn't actually try that though, so I'm not sure how the cast members in the establishment treat

Thanks everyone! 2 of the 9 of us are infants, so I am hoping that helps.

My husband thinks I should cancel my backups and if we can't add one my niece is out of luck. I think that's harsh...but maybe someone else will volunteer to stay out instead or with her. However my backup is set for earlier so if we don't all get in, her birthday will be at a quickservice.

Edited to add that my niece is 17...so DH doesn't appear to be a complete jerk and it's his brothers kid who isn't coming. She is riding down with us from the Midwest.

Nice, I've called 3 times so far and each time I'm told to just keep trying. The first and second CMs I talked to tried to look for any availability...1+ so we could be split, but I had one CM refuse to look that way, she said there was no guarantees that 1 would be able to sit with the rest. :p
