Added On- Which II exchanges are good?

Yep, I'm a sucker. Got the letter and doubled our points within 72 hours. DH agreed only because of the II week, and he wants to go somewhere besides WDW (gasp!).... so, after all the warnings we see about trading out, I thought I'd ask, where have you been that you loved? Where would you never go back to? I can't be the only one who added on and is wondering....

Most will say it is not a good use of points, but we like the option to trade out. We have traded to several Marriott properties and loved all of them. We have gone to Newport, CA and Barony Beach at HH. We are going to the Marriott in Williamsburg next week. We have used CC for trades to New York and Washington, DC. We hope to go to Hawaii in the future. The only thing I can say bad about trades is that in most cases you don't get that ocean view you want or the best views anywhere when you trade. They seem to save those for the owners. We did get a great view in CA but it was very new and not many staying there at the time. The Washington trip was very nice and now we have a different place being added there. I would say you can't go wrong with Marriott trades. I know many will add to this about there trades.

We are going to the Marriott in Williamsburg next week

I hope your plans include Howl O Scream at Busch Gardens in Williamsburg. It starts this weekend and it is fantastic. They do such a great job, even with special lighting at night. We were so impressed with it last year, we bought seasons passes this year because we knew we would want to go back.

What restrictions did they give you for using the week? Do you have to pay a fee or is DVD paying it? I'm assuming this is a bonus week and will be difficult to find a week to use during prime time. II gives those bonus weeks away to many of their regular members when they deposit.

bonus weeks are great if you can find what you want, at one point I had 5 or 6 certificates for bonus weeks, was only able to use 2 of them, just couldn't find what I wanted. Like I really didn't want to go to Arizona in August, Myrtle Beach in January, etc., etc.!!

Dianes- which Hawaii resort did you trade out to? We went to Hawaii on our honeymoon and would love to go back.

Dean- you know, I don't know what the restrictions are. Silly me, I should've asked. We added on 150 points and DVC is giving us a one week trade to an II resort. The only things they told me specifically are that it is a 1 or 2 bedroom, you request what you'd like and they try to find a match, and that it has to be used by March 2006. Does anyone here know more about it?

Its just the two of us, and we're really flexible about when we go, more interested in getting to go to a nice place than in when we go. Keep the reports coming!

That was part of what I was getting at. Exchanging isn't for the weak of heart. You do need to find out more and certainly get in your requests ASAP.

I loved
Marriott's Grande Ocean at HH - beautiful resort - liked it much better than the Marriott's Manor Club at Ford's Colony in Williamsburg.

but everyone taste is different!

you can look at the II site and see the resort even if you aren't a member.

however remember that DVC only allows a few of these resorts.
