Wondering, want to buy a 25 point add on at okw. Wondering if I buy directly, will DVC match up my UY to my current contract. Also what type of closing fees does DVC close? Trying to see how much I have to save per point off the 102 they are charging, based on other costs, the resale market my charge.

Thanks.

Ed

P.S. cross your fingers, going through ROFR.

Add-ons direct from Disney will have the same UY that you already have. Currently, Disney does not charge any closing costs for add-ons.

I added 50 points at AKV this year from disney and there were no closing fees. I am not sure if the same goes for OKW. From a financial view I am sure you will do better resale than from Disney. My fingers are crossed for you.

Depends on how much your closing costs are. There are no closing costs if you add on through Disney, and given that smaller point contracts usually command a premium price, I've observed very little advantage in resale over Disney. With Disney you get your points virtually immediately and you often get the full current use year of points with the option to bank, even if you are at the end of your use year. At $85pp (price of one OKW contract for 25 oints currently seen on the Timeshare Store site), you'd save $400 in price difference but you'd also pay closing costs.

i totally agree.

(if resale prices keep falling, this could change, though.)

Is there a website for prices if you want to add on through disney or do you need to speak with them directly?

Right now I have my home resort as BCV, can I add on points for another resort and have 2 home resorts?

not an official site, but the info is usually very up-to-date.

yes...depending on what you mean. you get the home resort booking advantage 11 months out for the pts you own at BCV only for reservations at BCV. if you add-on at OKW, you will get the 11 month window for OKW for those OKW pts, but you would still have to wait till 7 months out to book OKW with your BCV pts.

hang around and you can learn a lot. (it's good to learn to use the search function also.)

Also with Disney, I believe that you get the extended contract (15 years more). Not all owners took the extension, so your resale might be for the shorter term.

If you buy direct from disney, there are no closing costs, and no ROFR. As far as resell goes, don't expect any less then $70 per point to go through, then there are roughly $600 in closing costs. So as a PP said, the savings from a resell ($400 in this case) would be offset by the closing costs. This info is based on my personal experience with a 28 point OKW resell.
