I may be coming into a small inheritance soon, and I'm thinking that I'd like to pay off what we owe on our current points and do a small, 50 - 100 pts., add-on. Does anybody know whether or not it would be possible to purchase these points in our current use-year at our current home resort in a resale? Or do you pretty much have to take what comes along? Or is this whole thing a crazy idea?

TIA!

Generally, if you buy direct from Disney, you will be buying your current use year. Though there seem to be a few exceptions, generally they won't make another use year available to you as an add on. Currently, most use years (if not all) are still available at BCV, HH, and VB. Our guide needed to check on VWL last week, and, as of then, our June use year was still available at VWL. Some use years have been sold out at VWL if I understand correctly. OKW and BWV are generally not available for add ons through Disney for any use year, but occasionally some points do come available and some people have lucked into add ons at these resorts recently through staying in touch with their guide.

My use year is Feb. called my guide to be put on a waiting list for OKW and in less than a week she called with 75 points available :bounce: :bounce: it can be done I guess it how much you want your current resort and how long you are willing to wait. (I really wanted OKW) Good Luck.:)

Seems like the question is more about resales than direct. In that case the answer is yes it is possible, but you will have to be willing to wait for it.

If you are serious, you need to get ahold of the resellers now and tell them what you want ASAP. Many of the resales never make it to the web pages, so let them know NOW. There's no obligation!!!

Finally I am writing this assuming you realize that you do not HAVE to have the same use year. If you buy through resale it can be any use year, not necessarily what you already own. I have purchased a diferent use year myself, and it's not a problem just requires some extra thinking if you are banking (which we NEVER do :) ).

Good Luck! BTW What is your use year?

Doug

If you are going to try and get a resale that small, keep in mind that closing costs will eat you up (and raise the per point price), so try to get the seller to pay them for you.
