This may sound really confusing but I hope someone can help me.

Last year bought 225 SSR points and recently decided to sell for various reasons. Sent by TSS for ROFR on friday.

Question is what is the best way to add on or buy another contract from Disney? Can I add on now and just let master contract sell? If I do add on will new contract be in the names on original deed?(recently divorced)

Would I qualify for any incentives? Anyone know current promotions?

I know sounds crazy. TIA

How many points are you looking at getting? Most incentives do not kick in until you are buying a large amt of points (sometimes 120, sometimes 160). If you want to add-on, you would need to do it right away.

I "think" the names of the add-on would have to be the same as the master contract....I could be wrong on that one. I would suggest calling DVC and asking.

Was the sale of the original contract to satisfy a divorce settlement? If so, your best bet would be to let the contract sell and purchase a new contract in your name alone. If you purchase an add-on, it will be in the original names on the master contract.

Yes you can buy an add on and sell the master. The question in your case is how far along you need to be to do the add on while selling but it sounds like you have plenty of time if you sign up now. As noted, it does have to be in the same names as the original but you'd avoid the closing costs that buying resale would generate.

True Dean, but he might incur additional costs to satisfy the contract with the ex-spouse!

He can also change the deed for the existing contract but will need her permission. Given the number of points he wants to end up with, that might be the best option for many in this situation.

I'm just wondering if there is a way to, as a result of the divorce, change the names on the original to only one name, and then add-on? It might be worth checking into w/DVC.

It's fairly easy to to so but requires a change in the deed. It's about $50 if you do it all yourself and $300-500 if you get a closing company to do it. But it's still an expense that is unnecessary in most scenarios. The only reasons to do so are to keep the original contract but just in the one name OR to get it completed to avoid an issue latter on where the other party might be less than cooperative.
