I just got back from our 1st trip home (which is BWV) and we spent 2 nights at BCV and LOVED it. So now I have a few questions about adding on points.

I know that my add on will be a separate contract but will have the same use year so I have a couple things I need clarity on.

1)For the banking thresholds (ie 100%, 50% etc.) do they look at each contract seperately or do they consider a members total points? I have an April use year, which means my 100% banking deadline is Sept 30. I've used all my BWV points but if I buy the add on won't have an opportunity to use the new ones, I'm concerned that I might not close by end of Sept and really wanted to bank this years addon points. I'll need to bank 100% of the new points but it'll be a small fraction on my overall points, so will they let me do that if its after Sept 30?

2)How long does it usually take to close when you buy direct from Disney? My 1st purchase was a resale so I have no clue.

3) At the 7 month points and/or if I'm not using the points for the actual DVC resorts, can I 'combine' my points or does it require a transfer between my 2 contracts?

4) Does the add on get another member # or do I just keep the 1st one?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

When you buy an add-on from Disney you will get the same use year. For banking purposes you count all points in the same use year, including add-on, to determine your banking limits. In other words, if you have 150 and add 50 you now count all 200 combined for the purposes of determining banking amounts. Also, if you buy now and get April use year, Disney will let you bank those as part of the closing even if the closing happens after September. Closing usually takes 30 or so days after purchase through Disney. Note, with Disney sale you can make ressie with points as soon as your purchase is approved even though you have not yet closed. As to the combining points question for a 7 month ressie, there is no transfer from one contract to another if points are in same use year; they treat them all as if they were one contract for purpose of the ressie. Finally, with an add-on to current use year you do not get a new member number.

I have multiple contracts bought directly both from Disney and resale. The following is what I understand:

1. the banking threshold is based on the total combined points, as long as they have the same use year, not separate contract. However, you have to tell MS how many points you want to bank out of which contract.

2. it does not take very long to close. However, as soon as you tell your guide the # of points you want to buy, you can call MS, within hours, to make reservations. You just cannot bank or borrow until you close.

3. at the 7-month window, you can combine points to make reservation.

4. each add-on will have its own sub-set of numbers. Your BWV will be your master contract with a "000" at the end. If you buy BCV, the first one will be "001", "002", etc.

I hope this will help.

oops, I guess when I was typing, your questions were already answered. Good luck.
