Hi fellow DVC fanatics! We have a few questions, and hope you all can help!
1) When going thru DVC, is there a minimum # of points that must be purchased when doing an add on? 2) And am I correct that add on purchases are set at the current available resort, not the home resort?
3) If you were going to do an add on, would you use DVC or an outside company? I know that outside purchases may result in less benefits, but we aren't sure if that is the case with add ons.

Hoping to find some magic along the way...
Thanks for your help!

1 - Add-ons start at 25 pts. The link below will be helpful.

2 - if you want to combine pts at 11 months out, then they need to have the same home resort. You can add-on at a different resort but usage for that contract at your current home resort would have to wait till 7 months out. You could also just use that contract independently at that new home resort at 11 months out.

Disney is constantly reloading their "sold out" inventory with ROFRs and foreclosures. Buy what you want, not what they try to sell you.

3 - if I already had access to qualified member perks (or I didn't care about the AP discount), I would add on by resale to save money. If money were no object and I wanted to add on as quickly as possible, I would buy direct.

1) 25 points is the minimum add on for direct purchases
2) You can be wait listed for most of the resorts that are sold out. I think the VGC (and maybe BCV) wait list is closed and it seems like the VGF wait list closes from time to time.
3) The conventional wisdom for add ons was that smaller add ons were better done through DVC since their closing costs were significantly less. From what I've read, seems like Disney's closing costs are very comparable now to the resale market. The downside of buying resale of course is you're stuck with what's out there. Traditionally, smaller resale contracts in the use year you need are hard to find. You might be better off going on a direct wait list and then keeping an eye on the resale market while waiting.

Good luck with your decision!

If you opt to add on via a resale purchase and want your new contract to be under your existing membership it is important that the new contract be titled exactly as your existing contract and that your new contract be in the same use year, if not, you’d end up with 2 membership numbers.

I thought CCV had a minimum of 50 points at one time.
