New to posting so bare with me!

Okay, My husband and I are looking to sail on the DVC member cruise in Jaunary 2013. We are taking it for the main purpose of adding-on points while on board.

Is the member cruise the best time to add-on? If so, What incentives do they have?

We have been on a DCL and attended the DVC presentation. Are the incentives better on the member cruise instead?

Thanks so much for all of your help in advance. Just want to make sure it is worth it to spend the extra points!

If you really feel the need to add on, do it while on land and you can peruse the resale sites. You'll save a lot of money. And while you can't use those points for the Disney Collection, you can still use them for DVC which is the best use of your points.

I'm confused...shouldn't the main reason for going on a cruise be because you want to go on a cruise?

I think I worded that wrong. We are taking this cruise to enjoy a wonderful vacation away, now that our children are older. We are looking to add on points and heard that the member cruise is the best time to do it. Just wondering if it is really a significant difference!

There really isn't a best time when you buy direct. You will pay a lot. Though DVC is offering 20 extra points for free when you buy 100 (so you get 120 for the price of 100). Or 120 for the price of 250 if you buy resale.

Ok, thanks for clarifying. To sort of answer your question, I'm not sure about the special offers on a member's cruise. But if you want a deal, you should consider looking at buying a contract via resale. Although it is a longer process than buying direct and there are some (slight) restrictions, you can save 50% or more on the purchase of a DVC contract.

Good luck! :)
