We have 5 day park hopper and more tickets that I purchased from cheap tickets. Looking at the cost it's only around $10 to upgrade these to 6 day tickets. Will we be able to do this when we activate our tickets at Disney? TIA

Yes, you can add a day any time before the last day of the ticket is used.

Yes, you can add a day any time before the last day of the ticket is used.

While that is true...
it is also true that a day can be added as late as ON the same day that the "last day" is used.

And, with the advent of MyMagic+, I'm not so sure that there is any restriction as to how late in your trip you can upgrade. (The "14 days after first use" restriction is definitely still in effect.)

You can add a day or more on your ticket any time you are there. I believe as long as the ticket has not been used for the last day you can add it on. I would do it once I got there so I would not have to worry about it later on. When you check in to your resort if you are staying on property you can just go the concierge desk and they can help you.

That bolded info is inaccurate.

That info about not being able to upgrade a ticket that no longer has a "day left on it" is another Disney "legend"
that just won't die.
It gets repeated so often, it has a life of its own.

We can activate our tickets at the resort? I was thinking we had to go to guest services at one of the parks? We get in at 10:30pm and are planning mk the next morning. What is the best plan for activating them?

If you ordered and HAVE your plastic tickets, in-hand, your tickets do not need to be activated at all. They are ready to use at any time.

If you don't (or do) have plastic tickets, but the tickets that you purchased are already listed in your MyDisneyExperience account... same story.
They are ready to use via your MBs at any time.

Thank you for the correction. That is why you are the master and I just a humble student.

Cute.
I'll accept that, but only in the very focussed areas of my WDW expertise.

For years, Disney WOULD allow any ticket to be upgraded within the 14 day window.
But, the REASON that Disney stopped allowing the upgrade of "all used up" tickets, was that unscrupulous (and unlawful) ticket re-sellers would buy "dead" tickets from guests at the end of their trips, (for next-to-nothing) and then upgrade the tickets (at the ridiculously-low costs) to illegally sell those tickets to other guests.

Without any connection to the original guest owners of these tickets, Disney could not tell if the illegal sellers
where "original owners" or... whomever. No paper trail.

But, NOW, with the advent of so many guests linking tickets to FP+ and an MDE account (with names and addresses, etc.)
many more tickets can be electronically linked back to original names and a layer of safety is achieved.

One more curveball....

I bought 2-day tickets for somebody and linked it to them in MDE. I have the physical ticket card as well.

Now plans have changed and we would like to upgrade them to 5-day. We will be at WDW in late March (meaning tickets were bought at one set of prices but I am assuming by March the ticket price increase will go through).

So if I add 3 more days in March when I am there:

Do I pay the difference in place when the tickets were purchased?

Do I pay the difference in place the day I upgrade them?

(I expect this to be similar amounts worst case).

Do I have to use at least one day first to get the best case answer?

TIA,

Bama Ed

PS-on the phone a ticket CM said could cancel old ticket and buy new one but that would cancel the existing FP+ on that ticket/person which I don't want to do.

4. Yes. (THIS situation -using the ticket one time, first- makes the rest possible.)

1. No.
2. Yes.
3. Yup.
5. I have never heard of "cancel the old ticket and buy a new one," so that was likely just the CM making things up.

question....we are coming for a cheer competition and have 4 day hoppers as part of the package. Is it best for us to upgrade to add the 2 extra days we need after we have used the first day on the tickets?

It may or may not be possible to upgrade the tickets, if they are "special deal" tickets.
But, if you CAN upgrade them, do so after using them at least one time.
(And, "after using them" can mean ever RIGHT after using them... no need to wait until the next day.)

Thanks for the correction Robo. I was always told this and never had to try to get the tickets added myself.
