Hi all. Hoping some of you are technically proficient with computers. I believe I have some spyware installed on my computer. I have tried deleting the suspicious programs with no luck. Have any of you used Ad Aware to remove spyware from your computer and is it safe? I keep thinking that would be the ultimate joke if the company that claims to remove spyware actually is spyware! Thanks for any help you can provide. I am slightly technologically challenged as you can probably tell.

Ad aware works great. It doesn't harm your PC at all. It lets you decide what files to delete as well, so it doesn't blindly wipe out anything you don't want it to. I have used it for a couple of years.

If you use Kazaa or something like it, it will render it unusable because it removes the spyware that Kazaa needs to run.
Of course, you could always reinstall after you run Ad Aware.

I run Ad Aware daily and my Kazaa still works??

I run Ad Aware at least once a week. It's amazing how many things get past you onto your computer.

I run Adaware daily. I am connected via cable modem, and spyware is found just about every day. I use spybot as well, they sometimes find different things.

Personally, I think Spy Sweeper is better than Ad Aware. It found a truck load of spyware that Ad Aware didn't.

Go to spybot.com, & click on Spy Sweeper. It will take you to another site, and you download it from there.

Good luck!

Blondie, is that different than spybot? I only ask because it looks like it comes off of the spybot website. Is there a charge for this?

One is spybot, the other, more often used, is spybot S7D. After using the free Ad-aware for some time, doing the updates and scans, I poped for the 20 or so dollars and upgraded to Ad-aware Plus. It is now proactive, always updated and prevents proactively, rather than reactively to spyware. I never have any.
