So I'm heading back to WDW in November. But was feeling that was a while to wait for a break etc.

I took a gander to the Disneyland Paris page, and prices up a 3 night stay at the end of May. Thinking it wouldnt be too bad I selected the Disneyland Hotel (3 nights, can't be all that costly right..)...

£2240 for 2 adults, 1 room, tickets and breakfast. This isnt even including transport or food in the parks etc. I was really shocked.

I checked another hotel (think it was a partner hotel, the Dream Castle hotel) and it was £880 for the same time period.

I honestly did not expect DLP to be so expensive - I will take myself off to the niave corner and contemplate how silly I have been ::yes::

That's what some of us have been telling recently on the various "has WDW become too expensive" threads.

If you want expensive, go to DLRP ...

And your shock wouldn't be complete without realising that the food and merchandise inside the park are ridiculously expensive too

My friend found the same problem, for an extra £200 (maybe £300) she is going to WDW for 10 days!

We priced it up as an option before our trip in October turns out 5 days in Prague at a 4 star hotel plus flights was much cheaper than a long weekend at DLRP.

Plus I heard how expensive the food etc was there from friends!!! No way. So I have to wait until my trip in October for my Disney fix.

To me, the whole place is nothing special, especially the Studios park. What a half baked theme park THAT is....

That's a little unfair. Disneyland Parc is the most beautiful of all the 'Magic Kingdoms' and the Studios is improving all the time.

The prices however I do agree on, probably not helped by the ¬ v £ as opposed to the $ v £

:goodvibes

DLP is expensive, no one can deny that, but for a short trip, or an add on to a France holiday it is super. We have visited about 10 times, day trips, on site, off site, always had a fabulous time. It is not somewhere you could visit for a week, but a 3 day trip is great. I never understand all the critisism directed at DLP, it is what it is, a theme park in Europe. All European travel is expensive at the moment, and any theme park will fleece you, anywhere in the world. If you go with that in mind, your trip would be wonderful. Also, nothing can compete with Florida weather!

I have to disagree in a way about how expensive it is to go. I really think it depends how you do it. We live in Scotland and have driven there 3 times each time with young kids. We pay our ferry with Tesco Clubcard points and have had a three night/four day stay each time for all of us for no more than £500 staying in the Hotel Cheyenne. So that's £30 per person per day. Once that even included the dining plan. Yes its a long way to drive (about 17 hours in total) but we are willing to do it to make it a cheap break. If we added flights for approx £800-£900 that would immediately change it from a cheap break to a much more expensive trip. We had our first trip to WDW in October past and yes it was amazing but I would still visit DLRP if I had the chance. My main gripe would be the lack of queuing rather than the cost!!

I agree we went three times in 2012 and for a fraction of the price the OP quoted. We stayed at Hotel New York, Davy Crockett and sequoia lodge.

Going straight in to Disneyland hotel yes it is very expensive. That's like having done no research and pricing up grand Floridian straight away.

DLP castle is beautiful a lot of the park needs a lot of attention and agree with other poster the atmosphere isn't there and the studios well it reminds me of the industrial estate. Not nice at all.

I've been three times in the last 10 years and have been consistently disappointed by DLP - nowhere near as beautiful as MK, dirty and badly kept.

Priced up 2 nights for us (2 adults) in the summer - with Eurostar and Cheyenne, almost £1400!! Before food! :scared1:

Even a few years back we had the same issue we looked a DLRP for 3 nights, hotel, Eurostar and park tickets and upon comparing DLRP to WDW we soon realised we could go to WDW for 2 weeks for less and have ultimate Disney tickets for 14days and universal flex ticket plus! And flights & hotel! We were shocked and obviously decided we would go to WDW instead!

DLRP is good for a day trip but nothing more in my opinion! And it's far to over priced!

Me and my DBF thought the same thing.

We're going to WDW in August, but then won't be back til next August, so though maybe a quick DLRP trip in October might break it up a little.

Turns out a week in DLRP is only £300 cheaper than 10 days at WDW!

Think we'll be giving it a miss, however much I'd like to go...

You have to compare like for like - Disneyland Hotel at DLP is comparable to the GF or the Poly at WDW. My 3 night stay there a couple of years ago cost about 10% more per night than my stay at the Poly is going to cost me this year. We loved being so close to the parks - made it much easier for taking breaks in the afternoon.

But I have to disagree about DLP compared to WDW - just no comparison. The service you get at WDW (and the USA in general) is so much better, and the cost cutting at DLP is becoming more evident now. We loved the shows at the Studios, but the park wasn't very attractive at all.

DLRPs prices are terrible *if* there are no offers on.

Whenever we've been we've gotten at least a 40% discount and have had up to 60% for some trips.

We've never paid more than £800 for a 3 night 4 day stay and that staying in Sequioia Lodge in super high summer season and DLH in low season and HNY in mid season. Lol.

Their Magic Kingdom is beautiful and the DLH is so magical and amazing to be right at the park entrance.

The service and attitude of other guests however leave it miles behind WDW in 'magic' feeling though. At WDW I chat to everyone. Other guests, boat drivers, bin men and everyone seems so happy and friendly. At DLRP half the time even the guest facing CMs are miserable.

We'll be back to DLRP next year as I want to wait until the baby is old enough to understand WDW a bit more. And the real benefit for us is the journey to DLRP. £60 each and a lovely 2 hour train ride then you're right in the heart.

Sure it's no WDW but if its DLRP for a couple of days or no Disney trip at all I know what I'm picking. :) xxx (As long as there's a special offer on!)

I honestly think DLP gets an unfairly bad reputation. People compare Paris unfavourably to MK but if you listen to the MK fans, they have similar gripes about maintenance etc. I agree with the previous poster that customer service is nowhere near WDW standards (but the worst service I've had in a Disney park has been at Disneyland!). That would be great if it was improved but wow the canvas they get to work with in Paris is stunning.

We went to WDW and DL last year and expected a similar level of beauty and enchantment. The CMs were great in WDW but the MK is nowhere near as appealing visually as DLP. Heck, overall I thought Epcot was ugly and had been left alone since the 80s (retro future world?) and Hollywood Studios was abysmal! I really like the MK but I just expected more beauty to it.

Disneyland is enjoyable but the CMs at the moment seem really bored and slightly hostile. Annual passholders told me this was because of the treatment they were getting by Disney. Either way, they were not helpful or friendly. Disneyland feels like a miniature Disney park but is quaint though I missed the Paris grandeur while still appreciating the differences.

As for cost, Disneyland anaheim has been the most expensive for us. If you stay onsite you are paying stupid prices. In Paris and Wdw at least you have various hotel classes while still being able to stay 'in the magic'. If I want to pay stupid prices in Paris I can but don't have to. Paris also seems to have amazing offers. I am always emailed flash sales which are pretty reasonable and wish I could just fly over!

This year we decided that after our Wdw and DL experience that we will return but had to return to DLP first. Another poster mentioned going to Wdw and missing Paris. We agree! I thought even the parades and Fantillusion were better than the US entertainment. I was waiting to catch my breath seeing Cinderella castle ... Nup.

If we had to go back to only one Disney park it would be Paris; best main st, best castle, best fantasyland, best pirates, it has discoveryland, best haunted mansion type ride, best big thunder, and it has a dragon! The CMs in Wdw make it magical, the environment in Paris's park creates the magic. Since I'm in Australia and travelling to visit, I think it's high praise. I'm somewhat jealous the uk gets a magnificent Disney park of their own across the pond ... Without having to fly for 24 hours to see one! Maybe the grass is always greener for some but I just love DLP.
