We have ADR's for Chef Mickey dinner, Crystal Palace breakfast, Ohana Lilo & Stitch breakfast, CRT lunch and Askerhous Princess lunch.
We have 2 girls ages 5 and 7 with us.
When does anyone actually eat?

I have a feeling I am going to be on ever-alert with the camera-afraid to go up to the buffet because the characters may come over to us at any minute. And I know the kids will be all excited. I realize you can see them sort of coming (?) but do they follow a specific path? Does the waitstaff let you know when they will at your specific table?

Thanks!

When we went to CP we could see where the characters were and when they were getting close to us. I am fairly sure that if you do miss a character, you can tell the waitstaff and they bring him/her/it to you before you leave.

I have not tried all the CD you listed, but I have done some with my boys and the characters do seem to come in a pattern, so you can kind of see them coming and judge how long it will take. I have always eaten just fine. The characters will stop and spend time at your table and let you get some good pictures, so enjoy your meal until they get to you!:goodvibes

Thank you! Does the waitstaff ever help you out?

Yes they do. Both at Chef Mickey´s and the Crystal Palace wait staff have been nice enough to tell us when we were safe to go to the buffet and have sometimes told us to wait for a sec. until the characters were there, if they were on their way.

They will. It's not as stressful as you may originally think, like other poster said, you can see the characters coming...BUT I will say that I do prefer meals like the O'Hana breakfast where they bring the food to you...I guess I'm just a diva that way!;) I feel like I actually get to eat more that way. Between getting up to go to the buffet and taking pics, it seems like a lot of time is "eaten" :rolleyes1 ...pardon the pun, I couldn't help myself. It doesn't stop me from still eating at Chef Mickey's and the like though.

You'll have a good time and have plenty to eat and get pictures...ENJOY!

Are there any other characters restaurants that serve food "family style"?

I expected this thread to be about the kids being so distracted by the characters that they wouldn't eat, boy was I wrong! We had some trouble with a certain "stimulated" 6yo at Chef Mickey's who inhaled a McDonald's meal a couple of hours later. :rotfl:

Just keep in mind you paid for it and the food is good. Hey, they won't kick you out, so eat away.

For the buffets if there are 2 adults have one stay at the table just to make sure you dont miss anyone, but as the pp have mentioned the wait staff is very helpful and will track down any MIA characters. At Askerhaus if you are doing lunch or dinner there is app buffet the other meal is served to you so you dont have to worry about missing any. Our biggest challenge with 2 girls 4 & 5 was getting them to eat. Have fun!!!!

The Ohana breakfast is served family style, which is just one of the reasons why it's our favorite Character Meal. :stitch:
