Actually a fairly normal day today (Tues night update)

It's interesting when life is so messed up that a "normal" day is a big deal.

But, that's what I had today. Had a hard time sleeping last night, but I blame that on the coke I drank yesterday.

No problem getting around today. We had breakfast at IHOP and made plans with my mom to help her get her advanced degree and figure out a career she might possibly be able to hold up to. She's not in the best of health and can have days where she'd hold up just fine to a regular job, others where she'd never make it to work. So that's going to be tricky. We're trying to find something she can do from home, and have come up with some good ideas to look into, I think.

Then DH came back home to make more calls. It's actually somewhat scary how easily he's finding out so much information.

Mom and I went by the pet store to get more food for the kitties and her dog (a Shih Tzu who, by the way, is getting along *great* with Gabi, fairly well with Leo, and fine with Skye and Sienna -- Gabi and Dolly have been so cute playing with each other), then came back by my house.

I was tired enough (due, in part, to the benadryl I had to take at IHOP because the hives were bothering me so much), that I decided I'd better lie down for about 10 minutes before going back to my mom's. Mistake. I was down for 10 minutes and knew I couldn't go do anything more today, I was about to fall asleep standing up. I didn't realize I was so tired.

So I called around to a few friends and found one who could pick my mom up here and take her back to her house where she'd get *her* car (we didn't let her drive for the first few days until it was safe to do so). I waited until the friend picked her up, then I tried to crash for a nap. DH came in and talked my ear off, letting me know some of what he was doing and how he was doing it, what he was finding out, and plans for future steps. All good and important info.

Then he went back to the university for a bit, and left me to my hour nap.

3.5 hours later, I woke up and forced myself to get up to feed the kitties, eat something myself, and check on my mom. She got back home a few minutes later, and we watched cartoons on TV for a while while brushing our respective pets and I cross stitched.

Overall today, I felt almost completely normal, which was really strange to me. This is one week to the night now since I last spoke to my dad (ouch) and I'm feeling perfectly fine. As I've been told -- there'll be good days, there'll be bad ones. This was a good one.

Hopefully, tomorrow will be good as well.

I'm glad Tammi. Take each day as they come. :)

I am glad to hear that yesterday was a fairly good one for you. I hope they continue that way

That does sound like a good one... and some days it will be better. Get lots and lots of rest! You will need it later!

As for your mom and working, perhaps she can get with a career counselor or someone who specilizes the back-to-work field. Isn't her brother an unemployment counselor? He may be able to help her. I know a college in PA had a program called Transitions (or something like that). This program was for people that were entering back into the work force (many SAHM and widows/widowers). For some it was a degree seeking program, for others it was just a transitional thing... maybe someplace has something similiar

 Sounds like you are healing, everyday will be a little different. Prayers for strength for you and your mom as you venture into them.

Continued prayers and good thoughts to you and you family, Tammi. In regards to your mom, I know quite a few colleges in our area have programs for "Women in Transition." Perhaps you could find something like that to help your mom? Good luck with everything. Take it one day at a time.

"Fairly normal" sounds wonderful! :)

Hang in there, Tammi. One day at a time...
