We are staying at Windsor Hills and will have about 3 hours with nothing to do after our flight arrives and before we can check in. I already budgeted time for lunch and grocery shopping. What would you suggest we do in that extra time? We have two boys ages 6 & 9. I was thinking of trying to find a mini-golf or maybe going to Disney Springs to shop around and visit the allergy-friendly bakery there. Other ideas??

Disney does indeed have two mini-golf courses.

Walking around Disney Springs can easily kill 3 hours. They also have a bowling alley and a movie theater.

You can do this loop: Drive to Fort Wilderness and look around a bit. Take the boat to the Contemporary and look around. Take the monorail to the Poly and eat lunch or get Dole whips. Then take the boat to MK and transfer back to Fort Wilderness. That will take plenty of time.

It will take you about 40 min to drive from MCO to Windsor Hills.

But stay on Hwy 192 & on your Right there is a mini golf course. further on Hwy 192 West there are several eating places

& Publix & Target grocery stores . Then turn around and head back to Windsor Hills

3 hours will pass in no time.

Check out living social, groupon or travel zoo. There are tonnes of discounted attractions there. We went to citrus showcase for a monster truck tour that was fun

Showcase of Citrus, Sea Life Aquarium, the Orlando Eye, Skeletons: Animals Unveiled, Congo River mini golf and gator feeding, Pirates Cove, Kings Bowl on I-Drive, and Gatorland are all great choices for a three hour time span and are all suitable for six and nine year old boys. I agree with sk8jdgca, Groupon and Livingsocial are excellent resources for deeply discounted admission on these smaller (but awesome) attractions.

Downtown Disney/Disney Springs. You will instantly be immersed in Disney. Have Ghirardelli and eat at Earl of Sandwich, then check in. But chances are you can check in early anyway if you call/email and ask.

I agree with those who said head to DTD I can easily spend a whole day there. If you want to find a Walmart the one on 27 always seems less crowded than the other local ones, it's worth the few minutes needed going west

You never know if you may get early check-in. I haven't stayed at Windsor but it's worth a try.
