Activities for 1st night

Will be going to Disney with DH and DD4 in May. Thought on the first day we'd check in the early afternoon (hopefully room will be ready,) unpack and settle in. Want to make a PS for early dinner at Chef Mickey's, ride the monorail a little while (DD will LOVE that!) and then go to MK for Wishes.

What do you all think? Is this a good plan or should I change something?

Sounds like a good plan as long as you are not "wasting" a day of your passes just to get into the park for a short while.

Our first night is always take a bus to MK - ride the monorail around - take the boat to Wilderness Lodge and eat at Whispering Cannon.
On the way back enjoying the lights on the castle, trainstation - it is just so magical - making the next morning to come any sooner to walk through the trainstation - down Main St USA and find the Castle towering in the sky.

After a casual dinner at the Concourse Steakhouse, we put the little delegation in their embassy-issue pajamas, and ride a few loops on the monorail. Later, Mrs. Ambassador watches through the bottom of her champagne flute, as the Electric Water Pageant cruises slowly by.

We usually go to DTD after dinner and walk around and just relax knowing we have several full days ahead of us. I love the Lego dragon and other "sculptures". There's plenty to see and get the Disney feeling from before going back to get a good night's sleep.

Going to Chef Mickeys and then riding the monorail is what we almost always do on our first night at Disney! If you don't want to go into MK to see wishes, try taking the boat over to Fort Wilderness. There is a great view of the fireworks from the beach ( can't hear the music though). They also do the electric boat parade there at 9:45pm.
