Activities between the "broadway style show" and 2nd dinner seating

Greetings: Any thoughts on activities between the Broadway show and the 2nd dinner seating. Last cruise we just waited by the door of the restaurant which seemed kind of a waste. Thanks.

Can you tell us more about your family and the agents of any children you might have?

We've often done character greetings and family pictures (if you have the photo package with Shutters, this is a great time to get some portraits done, particularly on formal night). Sometimes DD goes to the kid's club and DH and I go hang out and relax, either in the room or in an adult-only venue. You might have a drink or just relax on deck and listen to the ocean go by.

The Navigator usually has some activities listed during that time. You may want to see if you can look for some past Navigators for the itinerary you'll be sailing to get some ideas as to what's going on.

Ages 10 and 12. We danced one night with the 2-3 piece band playing there. We aren't pin traders or I try not to shop too much at least on the ship. Having a drink at the bar we also do. Was looking for some other ideas. Dinner seems to go at its own pace no matter what time you get there. Thanks!

We shower & refresh before the show. After the show we go put our uncomfortable clothes on for dinner. Also a good time to have a cocktail. Meet a character. People watch. Enjoy the verandah.

Having the second dinner makes it easier to participate in a lot of the activities scheduled between the two dinner seatings. You just need to show up at your restaurant at the start of dinner. You have a guaranteed seat in the restaurant. Those with the earlier dinner need to get to the theater a bit earlier to get seats they want for the show.

As far as the activities, there is usually some type of game type show in one of the venues, or maybe a quick change for the kids to ride the AquaDuck. It could also be a good time to check out activities on deck. One of the bars may have live entertainment (which the kids can generally also participate). In the atrium will be some meet and greets (you don't need to buy the photo). And there could even be an activity in the kids club that they want to attend.

As you noted, there is no reason to show up to dinner early, as you will just be waiting outside the restaurant. If nothing else, use that time to walk around the ship.

It seems like we always killed a little time either on Deck 4 or in the Atrium listening to the music and people watching.

Show ends at 7:00 ish. Dinner starts at 8:15. The game show type activities are generally from 7:30 - 8:00 pm.

Mickey Mania --- It's Insane-ia = lots of fun - never picked as a contestant family and for the past 10 years didn't have a "kid" (17 or younger)
Sometimes one of the WDT main stage acts will do their family show in Fathoms, The Tube, Wavebands or ....?
Walk the Plank on pirate night = another family game show in Studio Sea / the D Lounge

We have enjoyed these "inbetween" shows a lot, but have noticed that fewer people are showing up. I think more people are standing in lines to get pictures taken with the characters and the various backdrops that Shutters sets up.

This is one of my favorite times of day when cruising. I like the shows, so I usually clean and up and change into my dinner clothes before going to the show. But DW likes to get in some extra pool-size time instead of going to the show. We typically meet in the room after the show and enjoy a glass of wine as she prepares herself for dinner and I enjoy the veranda. However, if there is pin trading or the officer's reception in the atrium, we'll do that. And, sometimes we enjoy the piano player in whatever lounge that is in. On formal night, we often get our photo taken - several times.

Check out the Navigators from past cruises. You can see the type of activities that are offered. We usually get a picture taken, walk around the shops, have a drink and then head to dinner. While you don't need to be waiting outside the restaurants before they open, it is a good thing to get to your seat within 5 minutes or so after opening as to not hold up your server and the rest of the tables they tend to.
