Active 18 mos old

Our daughter will be about 18 months when we go. She does not like to sit for any length of time. I am wondering----- Will she sit on It's A Small World or any ride for that matter? She sits great in her car seat, on the kiddie rides at the mall, the pretend car cart at the grocery store, etc.

Has anyone experienced this concern before? HELP. I don't want to get in the middle of a ride and have her trying to "jump".

Our son was 20 months when we took him last year. He was the type who would not sit still either. We had no problems with him on any rides. I think he was too busy watching everything around him to want to get out...

My 2 yo is the same way. He loved Small World, Dumbo, Indy cars, Carousel (we have one at the mall here and every time we go by the mall he lets us know it). He didnt like the 3d movies, Haunted Mansion, or anything dark for that matter. So we skipped Snow White. Peter Pan didnt excite him, and he wasnt familiar with Pooh so we skipped it. He sat through Fantasmic, and Cirque du Soleil with no problems. There is so much to look at that it does keep them occupied. The trip was for our son, so we did what he wanted to do at MK. We didnt hit many rides, but he wanted to go back on certain ones, and we did several times.

If you find she won't sit still enough to be safe then hold her. She should really do fine--lots to see!

Our extremely active, won't-sit-still son, who was 17 months on our last trip, had NO problem sitting still on rides at WDW! I had been worried that he would be as squirmy as he usually is but he was not. We have such great pictures of him just mesmerized by It's a Small World!

We didn't go to any shows except for Playhouse Disney; we went at a busy time and you had to wait in the pre-show area for a long time before the show even began and we didn't think DS would stay still for that long. We decided save the shows for a future trip. The rides kept us busy enough!

Mine was good for most rides, but didn't like shows or standing in line too much. One exception was the Tiki Room, which she loved. If memory serves, she didn't like sitting through the Jungle Cruise either. This was in 1998, so it's been awhile. She also didn't care for the characters. When they appeared in the parks it was funny. Most families began rushing towards them, and we went in the opposite direction. She did like Pooh, but only if Mommy was holding her.

We went when DS was a very active 18mo. (Now he's a very active 30mo LOL!) He did surprisingly well. We had him sit on our lap on some rides, but mostly he just looked around and sat still on rides. We did find we had to have him wear a harness while waiting in lines, though as that's when he wanted to take off. But he eventually calmed down a bit in lines as he learned there was a ride at the end of the wait.

Thanks for all the advice. I'm sure she will be fine, but it's great to know what has worked for others.

We will be using a harness also. We've found this to work quite well for us.

My husband tells me to just relax and enjoy. I think I'll take his advice. It will be great to get away and enjoy the magic with her.
