Are they regular 5-day tickets? If they are, they self activate upon first use. When activating our Gold Pass renewals at Guest Services, can I also activate my adult daughter's 5 day passes which her family will begin using the following day? Or does she need to be present? Thanks much.

Would you be going into the park that day? I don’t think you want to activate before you go in, since your pass will expire earlier.Sort of a follow-up question - I have two Gold APs purchased at the same time, one for me and one for DH. I'm assuming you have to be present to activate them (because a photo ID is required). I may have a business trip next month that takes me close enough to consider activating mine. Since he won't be with me, I'd only be activating mine, and then activating his when we visit together later. Is there any problem doing that since they're both on the same voucher?
Or are they renewals? Then it doesn’t matter.Would you be going into the park that day? I don’t think you want to activate before you go in, since your pass will expire earlier.
Right now I don't know if I'm going to have spare time to spend in the parks. But I would only activate it if I do. Mine is going to expire before his anyway because I have another trip down there before he and I are going together.Would you be going into the park that day? Nope. not renewals. Shiny new passesOr are they renewals? Then it doesn’t matter.
So what does it mean to activate them? Also I read on the ticket sticky thread (under the Theme Parks Attractions and Strategies board) that there's a new policy that you can activate them, but the year doesn't start until you actually use it to enter the parks. Is that still true or is that old info?

Under most circumstances, the process of activating a new annual pass does not start the clock on expiration. A year or so ago, Disney made a change to the activation process for new annual passes. You still have to stop at either a park ticket window or guest relations location to have the pass activated, but now the actual expiration date is set when you actually use the pass to enter a park.Would you be going into the park that day? Shouldn't the annual passes have separate ticket numbers, like regular passes? Are the passes already assigned to each person in My Disney Experience? If so, just take one of your old magic bands (or your new magic bands, if you area resort guest) for each person to a ticket window or guest services. They can scan the persons magic bands and activate the passes, The same for military passes, as long as the person that purchased them is the one that activates them, and they have their military ID.So back to my original question. If both APs are on the same voucher, how difficult is it to activate only one? Or would I be able to activate DH's if he isn't there?

You should link the voucher to your MDE account and it will ask who you want to assign the APs to. You can activate yours without activating the other.
Yep, APs are linked to me and DH in MDE, and we're using the MBs from our trip last year. I thought I had to take the voucher plus an ID to guest services to have them activated, so this sounds much easier than I thought it was going to be.
Thanks all!
