So I have asked this same question on 2 other disney forum websites and thought what the heck why didn't I start with the Dis to being with? :rolleyes1 We have a package at the Beach Club with 6 day Park hoppers starting on 8/14. I ended up booking our flights arriving on 8/13 and will book a room only at either Pop or a mod for that night. I would really, really like to go to a park on 8/13 to spread out my itinerary more but that would involve activating my tickets early-correct? My TA acted like it was no big deal but I would have to go guest relations in a park. I realize I wouldn't be able to set up fp's for that night until my tickets were activated that day so the pickings will be slim. I was thinking of going to HS and just have dinner, launch Bay & Fantasmic and maybe one fp no matter what it is. I got different responses/experiences from people about whether I could activate my tickets early. One poster stated that practice wasn't really encouraged and it would be a big hassle going to the guest relations. Another poster stated she had a 3 night room only followed by a 4 night package because of free dining. Her first resort was able to activate the tickets no problem at the hotel not the park. We have plenty of days on our tickets to cover all days. Will I be able to activate the tickets early? Also the morning of 8/14 I was hoping to go straight to AK but if I am not able to activate my tickets early on the 13th, will I have to go all the way to Beach Club to activate them before going to AK? Someone please tell me its not as complicated as I am making it out to be. I am nervous how its all going to work, this is my first time attempting 2 separate reservations. My purpose of booking flights on the 13th and doing a room only was so I could have an extra evening and also be able to a have a full park touring day on the 14th. Thanks in advance...
Amy

Yes, you can activate the ticket portion of your package up to 10 days early.

Go to AK Guest Relations and they can complete the activation for you.

Ok great simple enough, thank you. So If I want to go to a park on the 13th, I have to visit guest relations in that park and it shouldn't be a problem. Got it. Now if for whatever reason my family isn't up to it and do decide to just make it a Disney Springs evening or not go to a park will I be able to go straight to AK on the morning of the 14th if I do online checkin for the Beach Club? Or do I need get up super early and physically go to Beach Club to activate the tickets then take a bus to AK? Thanks

Complete online check-in and choose the earliest arrival time. Your tickets will be activated at that time and you can go straight to AK.

thank you so much! I guess I am stressing out because I have never done it before. Aren't I able to do online check in something like 30 days in advance? So really I could go ahead and do online check in for both reservations Pop and Beach Club before we even leave for the vacation. Is that correct?

I believe you can complete it now; I've done mine up to 50+ days before check-in. It will have you select a Pin Code for using your MagicBands for purchases. Keep the code someplace safe to use during your trip.

You should be able to get fastpasses for the 13th as well, since you're on site for that first day. I could when I did a similar split stay in November, with my package starting a day after my room only check in. I think it's a glitch in the system, but should still work.

Were the only tickets that you had in your MDE account
ones that were purchased as a PACKAGE (tickets and room bought at single price) at the second resort?
They were not stand-alone tickets, or you didn't have any other tickets also in your MDE?

Correct...they were the only tickets. Probably a glitch in the system, but a happy one for me.

Yup.
If that was the case, I wouldn't expect that to happen all the time... if ever again.

Does anyone know if tickets that are part of a package can be activated at one of the water parks?

Just so I am clear. If I go to a park with Magic Your Way tickets 1 day ahead of my check in day I can go to a park and have my tickets activated? My next question is if the tickets are activated must I be using one that day. Could they be activated 2 days out at Disney Springs or at the hotel I would check into 2 days later. I was thinking then I might be able to book a better fast pass option if I activated 2 days before check in and then used the first one one day prior to check in.

You have to activate them at a ticket window or Guest Relations. You can activate as soon as you reach WDW and book your FPs for whenever and wherever you want. You can activate up to 10 days prior to your package check-in.

Closing as this thread is 2 years old.
