Activating the AP

I'm trying to recall and I can't trust my memory now that I'm in my 40s. I have the vouchers already for the APs. I remember going to the ticket hut and activating them before we hit the gates. I can't remember if I need everyone there or not. If not, I'll go early because I remember it taking 10-15 minutes to complete the task. Don't need the family just shuffling around waiting when they can come a bit later. I believe it's at the gate they take our photos the first time, right?

Yes, I think that's right. You do still need to go to the ticket booth to get the AP cards, but I don't think your family needs to be there.

We bought AP's last week at the ticket window for the 4 of us. We filled out all the paperwork and paid at the ticket window. They gave us 4 cards which we brought to the gates. At the gates, they took pictures of each of us and linked them to the card. Our cards do not have our pictures on them, the pictures stay in their system.

Will you have recently expired APs? If so, take those to the ticket booth with you. They will take your APs and your vouchers and re-start your APs with that day's date. They will already have your info in the system, so the process should theoretically go quickly. You also shouldn't need to get photos done again. As for whether you all need to be there, in my experience usually we did have to be. I'm not sure the CM last year cared though; I'm trying to remember; I feel like maybe there was less rigamarole. I can remember the year before more clearly for some reason. I remember her actually asking to see each member of my party and reviewing my and my husband's driver licenses. So maybe it all depends on what CM one gets.

You're right, they did ask for my wife's drivers license as well as mine, but the kids just needed name and birthday. I'm not sure if I could have just brought my wife's ID or if she had to be there in person (which she was).

When I upgraded my PH tickets to APs earlier this year, the CM also asked to see each adult's Driver's License during the process. It's been a few years, but when my friends were getting their APs, the CM didn't need to see the kids, but they did ultimately need both adults to go to the window (I think it was to hand over the driver's license). My friend came back pretty quickly while her husband stayed at the window, so they didn't need her for a lengthy period of time. So I would plan on having to have all adults go to the ticket window at least once during the process.

Last time we used vouchers for our AP's I had the whole family with me at the ticket booth but I did not need to. Additionally the CM told me that I could have brought him our old AP cards and they would have just used those rather than issuing us new ones. So this time I plan on going to the ticket booth alone, with our old AP cards!

I don't know if it matters to anyone else, but we never use our old AP cards after doing so one year. The AP number on the card is from the year that card was issued. But if you are activating a new AP (instead of renewing), your AP number will change. Should you ever want to get a discount online (purchase party tix, make a reservation, register for an AP event, etc. you need to dig up your AP number from paperwork. I like just looking at my card.

I know some people have been charged for a new card. This has never happened to us but bringing the old cards isn't a bad idea just in case.

Oh, also, they have always retrieved our pics from the prior AP, we've never needed to retake the last few years.
