I'm going to be activating my 3 year old's AP this weekend. I should be fine just using my ID, correct?

Just wanted to double-check that I don't need to bring his passport, birth certificate, etc.

Thanks in advance!

My young daughter tried to buy something with her annual pass and a gift card for the discount and the lady wouldn't let her without ID. I finally had to step in and use my ID and pass to get her the discount. I kept asking the cast member what ID she expected a kid to have but she wouldn't budge. It was on Main Street. So sometimes they expect little kids to have ID (not hopefully for activation)

Yes this is their rule. To use an ap you need proof that it's you, and most kids are asked for ID for such purchases.

But to get the ap, no ID.

Kids can get state IDs and many have passports, FWIW.

Fortunately all other purchases she made were permitted without anyone asking her for ID. We upgraded to AP during that trip and certainly didn't think of getting a little kid a state ID beforehand. That is really ridiculous. I imagine most little kids with AP aren't carrying ID.

At one point my son had an AP, but my wife and I did not because we were always able to acquire free tickets. We went to a gift shop and the CM gave us a hard time about using my son's AP discount. He was only 3 so I had no i.d. to show

My DS9 has an AP (I do not as I have other discounted tix and non-expires currently in MDE) and we are planning on using his AP for some discounts on our upcoming trip. I am planning on bringing his passport for ID. Will he be allowed to use his MB to charge his AP discount purchases (only asking because ultimately that MB is linked to my cc) Or should I plan on getting him a Disney gift card or giving him cash to make his AP purchases?

This happened to me with my then 6 year old nephew, who was very importantly buying a gift for his grandma with his own money. :sad2:
I think I finally undid his magic band to show them the name on the inside (it's a good thing this was before he insisted his MB name be Boba Fett) it was really a hassle.

this all depends on the cashier. With ID (which again is stupid, it's a child! They didn't need ID to GET THE AP!) he should be able to use his MB with no problem.
In my case above, they were really being ridiculous about it. I was just going to buy the stupid thing with my AP, but they wanted me to use a different payment method than just using his money.
It should be noted, This was a couple years ago, and the only time I've ever had an issue. The kid has used his AP for discounts since then with no problems.

Before my kids got a drivers license they used their school ID without issue to make purchases with the AP when I wasn't with them and even then the were pretty strict about the AP holder paying. Not sure if schools use them now but going back to middle school they had school ID and were so used to carrying them they had them on vacation. The CM's can be picky about AP discounts sometimes - so we are always prepared to show our AP and an ID

Yes he can pay with the magic band that is linked to your account. He will have to use the PIN.

My 14 year old doesn't have an ID, they never asked him for one.
