Activating annual pass

Hi guys,

Sorry...another question!! When we come in May I will have an annual pass to take advantage of discount for hotel & the rest of the gang will have park to park tickets.

I read that I have to activate my annual pass before I check in at HRH to actually get the AP rate is this right? If so, I was thinking of unloading the family with the suitcases into HRH lobby, then I would head to US and activate my annual pass by entering park and turning around and exiting straight away and going back to HRH to check in.

Does this sound like the best plan?

I have never been asked for my AP on my 3 visits this past year. It has been said that you don't need it a check in but must show it at some point during your stay. I have never been asked to show my AP after booking the AP rate.

Oh ok well that's interesting!! I read either here or on TA that you had to actual activate the annual pass and show on check in. Would be so good if I didn't have to as it would save us a lot of trouble :-)

Thank you so much :cool1:

Your AP does not need to be activated for check-in.

Just to add further confirmation, I didn't have to show my AP at check-in for our stay in December (book AP rate online) and when I mentioned it at check-in they said "don't worry about it". I was able to activate my pass in the lobby of the RPR and it was quick and painless.

Oh boy... I sense a loop hole that will be closed at some point!

I have used AP rates at Disney too, and I don't recall having to show it, but I think I needed a code to access the AP rates online? I'm not exactly sure, we haven't done Disney in a while. I just ordered my APs for our trip that's coming up quick- I got myself a Preferred Pass and the rest of the family the Power Passes. The Stay More Save More rate is still a better deal for us than the AP rate, but there are a lot of benefits to having the AP other than just the hotel rate.

Enjoy your trip!

It has been like that since the hotels opened. In all the years that I've been going (about 14) I've never been asked to show my AP. I also haven't been asked to show it at WDW either. I was asked at DL.

I have never been asked to show my AP either. In fact, on our last trip I was panicking a bit because we were going to pick them up before checking in and then didn't have a chance to. When I wasn't asked for it, I never even thought about it but then worried that they may have charged me the rack rate because I hadn't shown the AP. So I went back down to the front desk to ask them and she said not to worry about it.
