Has anyone ordered a phone from Verizon and activated it yourself recently? I'm thinking of getting DD15 an iPhone SE and they don't carry the 64GB in store. In addition, it's not convenient for us to get to Verizon in the near future. I watched a video on Verizon but I'm still uncertain I'll get it done right.

She's already on Verizon. The SIM card would just move from the old phone to the new phone? Does everything just go smoothly following the prompts online?

I think she'll know how to back up the old phone with iTunes. What about contacts? I'm thinking they don't back up to iTunes. At what point do we put the backed up stuff on the new phone?

you do not new need move your old sim card to the new one. The process can be moved over to the new phone with just the activation. ex: my phone was transferred directly to the new phone even though the new phone is still in the box sealed.

iTunes does back up your contacts, specifically iCloud. You can back it up at the very beginning, it should ask you at the beginning if you would like to sign in to iCloud and transfer all your information over.

No Apple Store near by? Apple store, im sure will have the phone ur looking for.

If you ordered the phone through Verizon using her number then like Albort said you won't need to transfer the SIM the info should already be there. If you didn't use her line when buying it or bought third party you need to switch out the SIM and then just follow the prompts on the phone. After that you connect to iTunes and use the back up made from the previous phone. Contact info should be within that back up. I keep mine in the Cloud as well as in my yahoo account so if one goes afud I have the other.

you can try Best Buy, Staples, Target and likely a lot of others... but you will need to buy the phone from them -- and likely they will offer you a little bit of a better deal than Verizon. They should be able to take care of everything for you... my first choice would be Best Buy. Activation itself is easy however.. transfer of Data etc. can take a little while if you have never done it before. P.S. Verizon will help you over the phone with all but as with everything else some techs are good others not so much....
