We have 6 day park tickets but we don't check into monday but we arrive in downtown disney at the hilton on Saturday and wanna go to the parks on Sunday. Disney said we had to get our bands turned on since we don't check into port orleans until Monday. Has anyone had to do this and if so can u do it in downtown disney

As far as I know, Guest Relations at DTD is just like GR at any of the parks, and therefore does have access to the system that allows them to 'check-in' package tickets.

I'm confused by the wording, about the bands being turned "on".

Normally, if your bands are linked to your MDE account, and your park passes are also linked, you can use them whenever you enter a park.

The only question I hope others will chime in about is if you have a package booked, if there is anything you need to do to activate the tickets a day early. We don't do packages, so I'm not sure if that complicates things.

If your tickets are connected to your package, and you want to use your tickets before you check into your package, you do have to stop by Guest Services to activate them in advance. It's not a problem, just an extra step.

It seems like a design flaw that you can't just "activate" the bands when you first enter a park, even if you haven't checked into a hotel yet. Those should be separate usage than your hotel reservations.

Hopefully Disney is working on a fix for this.

It is because we can't book fast passes for that sunday until we activate our bands. Thank yall for all the help

This doesn't make sense. Fast passes have nothing to do with Magic Bands. They are tied to park passes. If you have a six day park pass linked to your MDE, then you can make six days of Fast Pass reservations.

If you book a package through disney ur tickets actually don't start until the day you arrive I've talked to disney many times on this subject and I was told that we must activate our bands when we arrive early to book fast passes on Sunday we don't check into the port orleans until Monday. I don't understand it but that is disney policy.

Okay, I think I understand the package issue. Maybe it's your terminology that is confusing things, but magic bands have nothing "on" them. They are only a link to your My Disney Experience account. The resort has to do nothing to the bands to activate them. Yes, your package begins when you check in OR when you go to guest relations to start your package entitlements before check in, but that has nothing to do with the MBs.

I guess in other words, it is your TICKETS that you are activating that Sunday, not your magic bands.

If you have a package booked through Disney, you can still book your FP+ 60 days in advance. It's one of the perks of staying onsite. But it is true that you need to activate the tickets before going into a park.
