acrylic tub liners

We looked at these units today at Bath Fitters. They go over your current tub or in our case we would remove the 1 piece fiberglass unit. The acrylic is suppose to be scratch resistant, resists mold and dirt since it is a non porus surface. Anyone have an acrylic tub???

We have an acrylic tub from Bathfitters. We got it three years ago. It does get dirty sometimes, just as any tub would. We use liquid cleanser to get the deeper dirt, Fantastic to get the surface dirt. It is definitely scratch resistant. No mold has formed in 3 years.

We also purchased the tub/shower doors from them. The pattern on the glass looks like rain beads. They're really nice looking.

We're totally satisfied with Bathfitters. We have no regrets.

But what about between the liner and the old tub. How do they stop the mold growth from condensation in that area?

Between the liner and the old tub is a vapor barrier. It looks like a rubbery type of styrofoam.

Do you recall how much the bathfitter tub cost? We have a standard size tub, and I've been thinking of calling them... I don't want to be shocked by their cost though....

We're having ours installed in a few weeks--we got white, 6" "tile" (extra $200over plain white), standard tub, ceiling, shower doors with frosted white glass, corner shelving and soap dish, and we had a coupon for free Moen fixtures (shower head/etc--claims to be a $400 value)--total came to $3800.
Not sure if it varies in cost by state but we are in NJ--and we had a very sweet and helpful salesman who answered all our questions and gave dh advice re: doing the rest of the bathroom "because it's so much cheaper if you do it yourself than have us do it for you"--I love honest salespeople!
