Acrylic nail questions

Lately what I have been doing is the shellac manicure. It is a polish that goes on your natural nail - no tips - and is cured with a UV light. There is no dry time and the color lasts about 3 weeks. Many salons are doing these now (I've seen it more at upscale full service salons rather than Vietnamese nail salons). It causes no damage to your natural nail. It is difficult to get off, and you should go back and get soaked in acetone to have it removed, but other than that they are a great and healthier alternative to the acrylics!

This is what I've been talking about the UV GEL is what they call it by me. :)

Regardless of going gel or acrylic I would recommend a french style polish - your tips don't have to be white they can be any colour! This is because with 2 weeks of growth from a distance you won't notice as it's the same colour as your regrowth - if you go with a solid colour you will notice your regrowth... but i'm just picky !! :guilty:

Hmmm I wonder if there is more than one thing? The shellac here is by OPI and it's new. I've seen the gel at salons for a while and thought they were more along the lines of acrylic because tips get added whereas shellac is more of a special nail polish. I must investigate now!
