Ok, so most of us know that the word "scuba" is an acronym for self contained underwater breathing apparatus. But what others do you know that are used in everyday language? For some wacky reason, this has always fascinated me. Here's a couple of others:

snafu: situation normal all fouled up - came from the military

posh: port out, starboard home - this came from the golden days of cruising when the wealthy would request a port side room going out to see and the starboard side as they return home. Apparently it was due to the sun light coming into their cabin.

Yes it is!!! That cracked me up!!!! If you ever can find a copy of it, you'll see.
They have it listed as (emiting foul language implications)"... up beyond all recognition. In short, a mess. A term often used in electronic mail messages"

They also have DAU listed in there :teeth:

I love this thing!!!! It has snafu in it as well. This was the best gift my company ever gave me :p
