At 6:30 a.m. I looked outside to see a beautiful grayhound dog at my front door. No one around here lets their dogs run loose because of the busy streets so I went out to see what was going on. The smell hit me right away. The poor dog had been sprayed by a skunk 
and, wow, did she stink!
I tied her up, tried to find some info on the many tags she was wearing and couldn't so I called animal rescue. Then I went out and looked at the tags again and finally found a well worn one with the owners name and phone number on it. Gave them a call but only got an answering machine so I got dressed and was getting ready to go to their house which was right down the street.
A car pulled up a minute later and the very worried owner came to the door. Seems Marilyn had broken her rope after the skunk nailed her. He was very grateful to have her back.
A few minutes ago he came back with a bunch of Dunkin Donuts gift certificates for me. Aww, I just thought that was so nice.
Anyway, for all you dog people out there, make sure your puppy has tags that are easy to read. If the dog hadn't been so cooperative I never would have been able to see the writing on its tags and the current price to liberate a dog from the pound is $275 in my town!
Gee, I hope the rest of the day is quieter and less smelly.
