I am distraught.

I need more info.
Does it still come with white chocolate ice cream?
Is it still warm and gooey in the middle?

Where is the 'wave'????

I saw this on sorul82?'s Trip report...

I had it on July 13.

It is warm and gooey in the middle. There is no ice cream at all--just some pathetic brandied cherries under the piece of chocolate. Mine looked just like the picture you have above.

For what it's worth, I think the similar dessert at Kona was better.

What's the warm gooey stuff in the middle? I'd read the description all wrong and thought it had cherries INSIDE, which DH would never go for. But I see they are for presentation purposes. So what IS inside?:confused3

BTW, they should have kept the ice cream.

Thanks.

Rich gooey chocolate fudge.
Ever had a chocolate lava cake? Like that.

We had the one at Kona Cafe and the Chocolate Wave at Coral reef. We all thought the Chocolate wave was nicer. It was tastier and more moist. It was served the old way back in October which did look nicer. I think they both should be served with a scoop of vanilla icecream and I will be ordering a bowl to go wih it when we dine at the Coral Reef.:thumbsup2

Never had a chocolate lava cake.....Not much for chocolate. We went to Belgium and DH and DD stopped every 10 yards for a chocolate shop.:lmao: I managed to LOSE weight on that trip.:rotfl2: I was really asking for them.

They don't like creamy things like mousse, but something fudgy would be great. So if it's fudgy and not creamy, it's a go. I second the idea of an order of ice cream to go with it.:thumbsup2

It was gooey inside and had a lighter/white chocolate in it, the side piece is white and dark chocolate, and the brandied cherries on the plate were actually pretty strong. Brandied cherries always seem to look like these because of how long they were soaked. I think we had 3 on two opposite corners of the plate so one more side with the cherries than shown.

The ice cream is no longer served with the wave. I thought the wave had the white chocolate in it and Kona's had the dark chocolate. The last time we went to Coral Reef (May 07) I had the jack daniels chocolate mousse and it was very good.

Can you order the Chocolate wave on the DDP and pay OOP for a scoop of ice cream? I had it a few years ago and I really liked it but I think the ice cream adds to it.

I had it this past April at the Coral Reef and had had it previously there when it was served with ice cream. I really missed the ice cream. Of course the chocolate was still good but it did seem to be missing something. I wish they would start serving it again with the ice cream.

Correction- the other posters are right, I was getting my chocolate mixed up.

Kona- Dark gooey fudge like stuff in middle
Coral Reef- Rich warm liquid white chocolate in middle.

Both excellent.

no, no wave, not any ice cream, still warm and gooey in the middle, miss my pre DDP menus and food presentation. The only places that I was fully pleased were the 2TS credit venues.

I need a food pornie to post a pic of the Coral Reef Chocolate Wave cut open, so I can see the yummy insides. I guess that IS a lot to ask.....:lmao: Oh well, a girl can fantasize.

Okay in March we went to CR for the first time and had the chocolate wave( on recommendation of everyone on the disboard). It was warm and gooey inside and it came with a seperate white bowl (very very small) that was full of ice cream (vanilla). It helped take the rich rich chocolate taste down a notch and was most excellent. Since then I can't help you. Also forgot to take pictures.

This is what you are thinking about at that hour, Haley? :rotfl:

all of these desserts look wonderful. and really, what ISN"T made better by a little vanilla ice cream on the side? :hippie:

Caught. I pretty much think about chocolate all the time...

Why is everyone so quick to blame the DDP? Menu's change, it's a fact of life. Menu's changed before the DDP and they will change after.

Right.

In fact this change is rather recent isn't it? Long after the 1/05 advent of the DDP. I know we had the older version withing this past year.

n2mm, the Jack Daniels chocolate mousse now sounds more up my alley. I'm just not a white chocolate fan at all.:sad2:

I'm not a white chocolate fan either. The mousse is actually layers of chocolate, mostly dark. You don't get to the JD layer until the bottom layer and you will know that the JD is there....it has a kick. I had it twice during my April/May trip and will be having it again in a couple of weeks.

I think the chefs just get bored and want to change things a bit, or they need to cut costs, though I can't imagine ice cream is breaking the budget for the place.
