ACK!! Name change!!

Hi Stepharoonie!

When i took my mother on the Wonder last year she had a similar issue.:(

At check in she had her BC in maiden name and DL in married name, the CM put both names on file and now forever more she will be be stuck with both names on DCL.::yes::

She hates her maiden name, use to get teased all the time as a kid, something along the lines of waggles:hyper:.

Hope this helps

Penny

My mom had the same thing.....and to make it even worse I had ordered a copy of her b/c prior to going on the cruise and it somes back with her last name being listed on there as Carbine when it was Corbin. There was not time to get it changed so she just used that one and her license which had her married name....when I had called and inquired if there would be a problem they told me as long as the birth dates matched it would be fine...I never even got a new one when we got home so she will continue to be Carbine now!

Good morning Stepharoonie!.

Since the two last names do not match, will I also need to bring my marriage certificate with me?

Bring along a picture of your ex-to-be. That might explain everything...

I took my marriage certificate with me, because obviously my bc is in my maiden name. They didn't need it, but I figured better safe than sorry.

Every married lady's birth certificate has her maiden name. As long as it has the raised seal, it's fine with your current photo ID.

It's not a big deal at all.

This must happen all the time because if you think about it most women who are now married/divorced will have their BC's in their maiden name. And if you drive chances are your DL is in your married name and since DL's don't expire for years, many women who are divorced will still have their married name on their DL. DCL realizes this.

But, I still think in the not so distant future....all travel outside of the US will require Passports due to the ease of forging BC's and all around heightened security measures.

When I took my 84 year old aunt on the Wonder in Sept. she had her BC from 1919...the thing was falling apart!!! The CM at check in said they don't see too many BC's in that shape!! It was all handwritten.

Obviously ALL b/c's are in your maiden name (no one was married when they were born lol). I never have a problem and I use my passport (got it when I was 20 and not married) to go w/ my driver's license. Of course--when I got married I kept my last name and added his(hyphenated). But--my passport has my maiden name, my drivers license has both, and my reservations (and castaway club card) have only my husband's last name (i.e.--dropped my maiden name when making reservations). So technically--I end up w/ 3 different last names at check-in although they're all intertwined so to speak--and never had confusion or problems--and we sailed 2 months after 9/11. ::MinnieMo

we booked thrue aaa and they sent a note that said all maried laids had to have maraige lices it is just new.

Just back from the 10/2 cruise. My cousin had just gotten married. DCL had the new bride listed under her maiden name because we figured she would not have time to change her name on her drivers license until after the cruise. The cruise was a surprise so we got not give her a good reason not to rush out and change her id. Well she rushed out and changed it anyway. YIKES. DREAMS told us to be sure and bring along the marriage document to be safe. Well we get to the port and we get to the first check in at the street and they won't let her through because her id name does not match the maiden name on the list. We told them she just got married and had changed her id. No deal. She had her marriage document pack away so we had to step out of line and search the bags. Luckily it was in her carry on and not in luggage that we had left across the street when the limo dropped us off. Not sure what would have happened if we would not have brought that document with us.

I don't have a passport, but my driver's license has my marriage name and my birth certificate has my maiden name. We had a lot of trouble at the Delta counter trying to get our plane tickets. They asked me for my marriage license and I didn't have it. After a long wait and a lot of suspicious looks from the Delta people, they finally let us go.

Next time, I will have my marriage certificate just in case if I do not have a passport by then.

BTW -- we've gone away (same travel process) 2 other times since we've been married and I only had this problem this last time. Go figure.

Hahahahahaha :) Well, the worst thing is, my current boyfriend isn't exactly pleased that I will have to bring the marriage license along, just in case. Taking a picture of my ex would be much, much worse :) Hehehe :)

I so badly need this vacation, it's unreal. I'm getting jittery with excitement. :hyper:

Why can't I be on the Wonder NOW?! Acckkk.... :(

LOL...I have 2 words for you and your BF -- SURIAL BATH. You'll forget about ALL your worries!

You do need proof of any name change now when leaving the country. Bring those marriage certs! I just use a passport-it is good for 10 years .
