Ack! Help me stay strong! Re GCV

If you like Disneyland and never been to Disney World. Its defently worth a trip out to see it. They have 3 amazing theme parks, Magic Kingdom leaves a lot to be desired.

I am a DLRer, but I like to go to WDW. I feel like it is a real vacation. There is a lot of planning and EPCOT and Animal Kingdom are truly different than what is offered at DLR. (DHS just feels like I traveled 3,000 miles to go back to So. Cal.) I visit DLR at least once a month and am very fond of my time there. DLR feels like home to me. WDW is a vacation destination. Our next trip this June will include horsebacking riding and my DH will be taking the Richard Petty Driving course. I try to do what is not offered at DLR. There is lots to choose from and all with the Disney style of entertainment.

In our case, we bought into SSR cuz we go to WDW every other year. What I really want is GCV. I just love that Hotel and prefer to stay there over any other hotel within or out of Disney. That is my first choice. My plan is to buy when they offer to the Founding Members. But I do think that if I can't buy at that time because of unforeseen reasons, I could always buy on the resale market.
Now this is interesting. When talking with my guide, I asked what UY will be offered. She mentioned that they were going to offer the same UY that I have at SSR. NOT happy about that! I want a different UY at GCV, because I travel to DLR during the fall. I have a June UY for WDW, but then we travel to WDW during the summer. I guess I'll see what they offered. What did they do for the AKV Founding Members, I wonder.

When are they going to begin selling?

If I was really worried about it, I'd work on a 50 point resale now to "get me in the system", then I'd buy the points I wanted as a member.

I did this. I bought small resale at OKW to be in the system for GCV. Now, I realize I will lose out on Founder status but hope that there will be points for current members after that. There is no way I could justify, or want, a full contract at a WDW resort and then add on at GCV. And I do believe tht it will be very hard to get reservations there at 7 months out, and that if DLR is your main vacation spot, it is really imperative to own at GCV for the 11 month advantage. At least at first. I believe Disney never lets a buck pass by that it could get, so think we will see more DVC at DLR.

When I bought into BCV I was able to get a different UY because it was a new contract not an add on. I bought the minimum 150 points at BCV and listed the name on the contract differently than the one on the OKW one we already had. I don't know if they will let you do this as a founding member but I would try it if you really want a differnt UY. We currently have one April UY and 2 separate master contracts with an Aug UY which works well for our Sept trips.

oh and PS.. I think you need to get assigned a different guide. I would not want my DVC relationship tied to a pushy, edge of rude guide.

Stay strong! I too almost fell for their sales advice to get into the Founding Members group, but I didn't want anymore SSR or AK points. I'm holding out for GCV.

Now that is a good idea and one I might try after I find that the straight forward approach will not work. That is what I love about this board. Lots of ideas! Interesting enough, my last name is different than my DH. His listed first on the contact and his name is what is used when we receive any offering form DVC. I might try to have my name listed first and see if that would make a difference. Just a thought.
