Struggle, struggle, struggle...need some advice! Here are options:

At Christmas, would you....

1) Go on awesome 10-night Magic cruise in Cat. 9 guar. room? No visit to WDW

OR

2) Go to WDW for Dec. 26-Jan. 4 in value resort and go on Jan.4-8 4-night cruise in Cat. 3 room (8032 I think...one of those four rooms with the different layout) (we are buying APs and this would be nice to take advantage of them at Xmas time)

Help! I cannot decide! They are about same price...THANKS!

The 10 night cruise, HANDS DOWN! The Top 10 Reasons:

10. cruise is all inclusive price. No budgeting for food, etc.
9. The Disney feel without the WDW Christmas crowds
8. Kid's programs to offer some mom and dad only time (no extra charge)
7. Free ice cream and cookies :)
6. Brand new destinations
5. Cat 9 is about the same size as a value resort room (I think anyway!)
4. 10 days of turn down chocolates are way better than 4 days!
3. Weather in the Caribbean will be way better than Orlando weather
2. 3 days at sea make for lots of relaxation
and the number one reason?????
1. Cause the Christmas DIS cruisers are the best bunch of cruisers you'll ever meet!!

You can't dump us right after you joined us!! We'll get a complex!

I may be a little biased, because I am going on the 10 day Christmas cruise, but here's my logic in your situation....

The 10 day has never been done. I think Disney is going to have some new and exciting things with this cruise. Plus we are visiting ports that are not normally visited in any other criuse.

WDW during Christmas break is a MADHOUSE! Wall to wall people. The cruise will only hold so many people and (unless you go to the pools on sea day) it won't feel packed.

I'd, personally, opt for the 10 day cruise, then try to get a week in a WDW just before your AP's expire --preferrably low season.

That's my 2¢

I know, I know! Not dumping ya'll, just trying to figure which is the best bang for the buck! We have ALWAYS wanted that Cat. 3 room and have been going back and forth the last 2 days after finding out they had one avail. on 1/4/04. BUT, I think I agree, those ports of call on the 10-night are AWESOME and the mix of Disney and Xmas will be wonderful, I am sure. I didn't realize that it was wall to wall crowds at WDW after Xmas....should have known!

I think the way you worded your question.... an "AWESOME 10 night magic " or a "value resort "... you have already really decided on the "Awesome 10 night magic ":teeth: :hyper: Have a "Magic"al Cruise... ! :boat:

We did a 7 day western in May 2003 in a Cat 3. While it was great to have the space and special features, I would rather spend 10 days on the Magic in a smaller room (we are in a Cat 6) then do the WDW/4 Day cruise in the Cat 3. 4 days just isn't enough time to really enjoy the Cat 3.

You're on the Christmas cruise? I haven't seen you post on our Cruise Meet thread. Possibly you're somewhere in the 396 pages of messages, I might have missed it though.

Come on over and join us. There are some real characters there! ;)

Have a Great 10 night Cruise...

Hands down....

I'll agree with the others who've said GO ON THE CRUISE! Disney at Christmas won't be much fun: it's going to be packed. And there's not going to be a lot of difference between sailing in the category 9 room and the category 3 room. You get the same amenities for either room.

Welllll.....I'm going to have to humbly disagree with this point. You'll get the same amentities such as dining room rotations and world class entertainment. You'll also have as good a shot at winning Jackpot Bingo...
But there are some huge differences between cat 3's and cat 9's. Verandah comes to mind. Also conceirge service. But, on the other hand, there is a big price difference, too.

I'd still say cruise over WDW, even in a cat 9. I would sail in a cat 12 just to BE on the ship.

if you have been to WDW before, then for sure go for the cruise. I mean, how many times is that 10 day cruise offered? Never before. You can always catch the parks another time, and at that time of the year the parks will be so crowded. just my thoughts...

Thank you all for the advice...I will take you all up on it and stick with the 10-night! Christmas on a cruise ship, here we come!

hmm could you get your family to agree to eat Ramen soup or Mac-n-cheese or peanut butter and jelly for a few weeks/months in order to save up going to WDW for even a day or two before the cruise?

I agree that Christmas crowds are insane, but there is nothing like walking down Main Street with all the decorations . . . and even staying in a value resort would deliver this experience. AP rates may be harder to come by this time of year anyway.

When do your APs expire?

Brenda

I personally would have to have my WDW visit if I were anywhere within the state of Florida, But....I have never been on a Disney cruise (have one planned in June 05). I do have the feeling I will love the cruise though. I think I would be okay just to stay onsite for a couple days without visiting the parks. JMHO (I've always wanted to say that!)
