Hello everyone!

If you're joining from my PTR - welcome back and thank you for your continued interest :lovestruc

To everyone who didn't read it - WELCOME! I'm hoping to keep this as exciting as everyone else's - I admit... I'm addicted to reading trip reports. It makes me feel like home isn't too far away :wizard:

So... this was my sixth trip to the world, fifth time staying on site. Normally I like to stay in different places, and had my heart set on POFQ... however... DH's best friend wanted to come with us, and so I talked DH into upgrading to AKL again since Dan would be there to share the burden. We absolutely adored AKL on our honeymoon, and for us it will always feel like home :goodvibes

This was also out first trip as AP holders!! The 45% off of deluxe accommodations also helped us stay at AKL again! Thank goodness for awesome AP holder promos!

Now, allow me to present our cast!

Here is myself and DH. I'm 23, and working on my Masters of the Arts in Teaching for secondary English (that means high school! woot!). I went to Disney for the first time at the age of 18 for grad night. My family was never big on family vacations outside of the state, so I definitely never went down to FL.

Here is a quick story about how I became obsessed with Disney (feel free to skip this paragraph if you would just like to get on with the trip report!). My senior year was the first year that my school participated in grad night, and it was started by my English teacher, who I had been close with since the prior year. This man LOVED Disney. I thought it was a bit weird that a mid-70s retired (he had come back to help and ended up staying on) teacher could love something so much. I respected the heck out of him, though, because he was that one teacher who changed my life. He helped me develop as a student and as a person, and was the first teacher to ever really challenge me.

Our school only took the top 40 students, since each bus would sit 20 and they only wanted to send 2 buses. I was number 41. I was crushed! When my teacher found out, he gave up his seat on the bus so that I could go. To say that I was honored would be an understatement. Luckily, one of the other students had to drop out due to financial issues, so he was given his seat back. Having someone so devoted to the Disney magic definitely set high standards for what was to come - I never could have imagined that Disney would turn my expectations upside down!

DH, aka Brian, is 24. He is a network administrator for a small company which he loves. He proposed to me at Disney World in an incredible way - but I won't take up space with that story unless you all ask! I'd hate to just keep talking your ear off while you're waiting for me to get to *this* trip. :scared1:

This is Dan, 20. He is DH's best friend. Dan is also a network administrator of some sort for a different employer here in Charlotte, NC. I don't really understand what they do, but when Brian and Dan get together it's an explosion of nerdy talk. I just sort of space off when this happens. Dan is a MASSIVE drama queen, which provides for countless hours of entertainment. He screams like a woman who has had her limbs ripped off - which made ME get dirty looks while getting off of roller coasters :rotfl:

We left from NC on Monday, April 12th, very late in the evening for our (should have been) 8.5 hour drive down to Orlando. Unfortunately, Jacksonville was very backed up (surprise) since the interchange was closed... we had to go on a CRAZY detour. This drive ended up taking us about 10 hours.

Up Next.... A quick stay in the Doubletree Castle

Our first two nights in the area were in the Doubletree Castle right off of International Drive. The first plan was that we would go down on Wednesday morning, check into AKL, and have a late night, then go full force in the parks on Thursday-Sunday.

That was... until I saw a tip on the Dis that the Doubletree Castle was running a promo for $49/night. I talked Brian into going down on Tuesday night after he got off of work so that way we would have all day Wednesday as well.

This was the plan.

Until... I decided that this was not enough.

At this point, Dan was coming with us for sure. He took Tuesday off so that he could get here a bit early and help me pack up the car, so that we could leave as soon as Brian was finished with work (DH works from home).

Since DH works from home, and Doubletree put out another great deal, I decided that he could work from the hotel room and we would drive down on Monday instead. Monday night ended up being $59. This would work because then we would have Tuesday after he got off of work to kick start the vacation! The more time at Disney the better, right?

So... we arrived at the Doubletree Castle around 3am.

The warm cookies they advertise are amazing!

Since I am a Hilton HHonors member, my account requests a high level room - which we got! This hotel was great - the people working there were incredibly nice, and they made sure they could accommodate us staying in the same room since we technically had two separate reservations. I definitely felt like we were stealing because it was such a great hotel at such a cheap price.

I loved the little moon on the door number. I'm a fan of all things celestial.

This is the dreaded Castle Creature!!! Did you know that all castles have a creature? That is what we were told.

I decided that he needed a proper seat.

During the day on Tuesday while Brian was working, Dan and I explored the hotel and took some day time photos.

Here is a recreation of the Castle Creature!

Next: Downtown Disney and "is this stealing?! ARE THESE REAL?! That price can't be right!!!!"

Subbing as well! Loving it so far! I've stayed in quite a few Doubletrees but that one is AWESOME!

Wait, where is the next? I am all ready for the fun and more pictures.
That looks like a great hotel - love the decorations! And wow - $59 a night?!!?!? :thumbsup2

I did LOVE the Doubletree Castle! It was just so awesome! I'd imagine that it would be a great place for people with kids - we will definitely have to stow away there for a night once we have kids... then at least I will feel less geeky about being so excited :rotfl:

Great start! Love the pictures...

Thanks! Make sure you stick around, Dan is an absolute camera fiend!

59$/night for Monday and 49$/night Tuesday! Keep an eye on travelzoo.com, that is where we found the awesome deals! I couldn't believe it!!! AND I got FULL POINTS for my Hilton account!

So, Dan and I woke up on Tuesday morning practically buzzing with excitement. By the time we got up Brian was already awake working. Today was the last day of his old job - he would be starting with a new company the day after we arrived home. Because of this, we didn't know how the day would pan out for him - would they let him off early (as his boss said they would try to do?), or would they keep him late and pick his brain seeing as he was the only person who had been working on these networks for the past year and a half (as Dan estimated they would)? Only time would tell!

After roaming the hotel and taking the pictures you've seen above, we decided to head to Downtown Disney. I needed to pick up Dan's ticket, add one more day to his park hopper (for tonight), and turn in mine and Brian's fake AP cards (the ones they give you at the Disney Store) into real APs.

I don't know what it is about boys... but they always want to take pictures of all of the legos - which I find hilarious!

I have a total phobia of dinosaurs for some RANDOM reason, so I didn't much care for this guy!

24121_1286761374614_1397550166_30666980_7427677_n.jpg

I love this guy, though, and could examine him for hours.

It was an absolutely beautiful day.

Here I pointed out that the Genie is controlling the water that squirts up from random places at this fountain. Dan was pretty amazed by that!

I, of course, had to introduce Dan to the most amazing store in the world... which always makes me wish I had more money! Ultimately I ended up not buying ANYTHING, which was a triumphant first.

24121_1286761494617_1397550166_30666983_4521828_n.jpg

After looking around, I introduced Dan to the best sandwich he would ever have in his life.

I just can't eat normal sandwiches anymore. I day dream about the Earl.

I had the Full Montague

I can't remember what he had :headache: .... but it was also good.

The next part of the trip report lacks pictures, because Dan (who is a drama queen) didn't think that the pictures were good enough to give me. Which makes me sad, because this was incredible!!

We decided to check out the Pr1me Outlets (the name may be Prem1er - correct me if I'm wrong!), which are also off of International Drive. We had one mission - find a true Disney outlet.

This is where we found the best kept Disney Pin Trading secret.

$1.99 pins? Definitely.
$.99 pins? GOODNESS! Where is the basket?!

but nothing prepared us for..

$.49 pins. Holy smokes!

So, even though we felt like we were stealing, we bought tons of these pins to trade for the next few days. We also bought some that we just straight out liked and wouldn't want to trade! DH was going to be stoked, because he ADORES pin trading. He is painfully shy, but will talk to a CM immediately if there are pins he wants - it's like his way of sharing the magic :goodvibes

After this, we went back to the hotel and waited (albeit impatiently) for Brian to get done working. I made sure the baggalinni was packed. I downloaded the Undercover Tourist app. We literally had everything ready, and were sitting on the bed behind Brian waiting.

So, aside from the pins, when did the rest of the pixie dust really start coming down?

Will we get to the parks before dark? Or will we end up finding out how dinner is at the castle?

Find out next time!

Joining in! Love your pics of the hotel you stayed in, I love all the purple in the room!

Can't wait to read more! :)

Oooh! Great TR so far!

That hotel really does look amazing! You got a wonderful deal.

Gotta love the outlet pins! I bought like 30 and wished I'd gotten more!

Can't wait for you guys to get to WDW!
