Aches and Pains

I just noticed that my most comfy pair of park shoes are.... New Balance!! I guess I'm not the only one and they really ARE good! That said, I switch off between the NB's and the Crocs. But the feet still get tired - a little massaging & a soak in the jacuzzi always feels good.

PS - 2 years ago, I developed a plantar fasciitis issue that had me in severe pain - crocs saved our 9 day visit to WDW that year and I credit wearing them as part of my recovery - no more foot pain! Now, they are most awesome when I know I will be getting wet (e.g., it will be raining, going on Grizzly River Run, etc.).

i would add don't over do on the salt , and consider a "support" type sock with lycra panels built in at least at the arch.

Ohh, I have these too and I love them!!!! I really do notice the difference when I wear my "support" socks. And like Bumber said, having extra shoes is great too. I take 2 pair and generally switch off.

DBF has PF, it causes him a lot of pain but he won't wear crocs.....:scared1: no way!

A while ago, someone on here recommended Smart Wool socks to help your feet. I got some, and I love them! :thumbsup2

There is a few ways: you can take a tennis ball and roll it under your foot; if you put your toes on the wall or curb and slowely and gentely push towards your toes it will strech your foot and your calves, etc.

it wasn't just my feet, but my knees, hips. I did try to get ready and i think it helped but really i was just wiped. we all (even teenagers) were so wiped we couldn't even work up the energy to walk to a decent restaurant. we made sure we had supper in the park the last day.

Whatever you do DONT wear them dutch clogs !!

*** if they fall off ya feet when ya on cali screamin or space mountain its gonna wipe out someone unsuspecting below

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

My mother and I were at DLR on Friday the 13th. We arrived at the park at 2pm. We left the park at 11 30pm. Mom wore her pedometer and by the time we made it to our cars, we had walked 8 miles. NO JOKE! So, if you are less than in shape, you should start training now. That is why your tootsies may be sore for days afterward. I am in fairly good shape and I was exhausted for 2 days after.
So, there ya go!

Oh, plantar faciitis is the worst! I have been fighting it for almost a year. So far the dreaded cortisone shot in the foot and orthotics from the physical therapist are working. So is losing some weight. I swear by Merrell shoes but will have to try the New Balance. I also take Aleve/Advil/Aleve/Advil during the day at the parks to help with pain/inflammation. It can be hard on your stomach so it is not for everyone.

DBF has PF but his dr won't do anything for him.....not a thing. She won't even OK him to get shoe inserts from the Good Feet Store and he won't pay for them himself because they cost sooooooo much money, so he just suffers....poor guy, I feel bad for him because I know he's hurting so many nights I rub his feet before we go to sleep.

My DGF had PF 3 years ago, got the 3 allowable shots when she turned a bit wrong on the sand on a beach and tore a tendon that held her heal in place. Now she has a 3.5" tianium bolt thru her heal and into her leg, 3 large scars where she had the whole heal rebuilt. She had rehab, stayed home for 6 months(used most of her sick time) and darn near went crazy just staying home. Me also and I was working in Afghanistan at the time. If you do not get continued pain relief there is a simple surgical procedure that works for 99% of the people with this condition.
She can cover 15 miles a day in DLR no problem.

Go to the doctors.com They had a segment about 2 weeks ago about planters facietis. There is a new in office procedure they can do that requires NO surgery and just a local. They basically send electric shocks to the area with this wand and the PF goes away for good after a few months!

I am in total agreement with the switching shoes every other day. I wore my Airwalks one day and my Disney Crocs the next, and although my feet were still sore they weren't awful and they were ready to go the next morning without complaint.
Corpsebride, we were there on Friday the 13th as well! Of course, so were a million others :rotfl:
